Post Match Thread: Kiev 1 - 3 City

Why would I? I'm happy we won but doesn't mean I enjoyed what I saw, we consistently play bad, you can't go from looking on top and comfortable in the first half to nervous in the second because you're 2-0 up, we will be and have been punished for acting this way and with it so close to cup final day that performance tonight doesn't fill me with the up most confidence that a "great performance" would and should do.

Its fine if people don't want or like hearing criticism of City but blind sighting it to negativity is just being vague, I pick out the bad parts of our game and continue to do so be because its practically every week I see these faults and if I can see them and others can see them then why can't the coaching staff and the management see them?

Its all well saying we're in a final, we're close to the CL quarters, we're only 6 points off the top.... But I've even said to my mates if we were to win the league or a trophy at least I'd be happy obviously but at the same time I'd still be disappointed in our season as the level of football I've seen week in week out has been shoddy given the position the club is at and where we are.
Dont bother suporting city pal

It's funny how different opinions can be on a performance.

I thought Silva was great tonight. Was involved in everything good we did and was a menace with his dribbling. His final ball wasn't quite at its peak but he was definitely influential for us.

Best player in 2nd half

Sterling was good too when he was involved, had the beating of his fullback every time, just wasn't fed the ball often enough for my liking

Apologies mate ; ) I thought he was immense and am still playing back his goal over and over again
Much better suited as an attacking midfielder
He was - gets dogs abuse, sometimes you can see why, but come the business end he's a giant.

Slight edit of my post to say he is more suited in an attacking midfield role if afforded the protection

Agreed, Silvas best game this year.. Thought he was great.

I didn't to be honest, but that seems unreasonably miserable of me on what was a fabulous night.

I thought we had Spanish Steve playing for us at times tonight, not Spanish Dave. I can hardly remember a decent pass or through ball coming off, whereas at his best, you'd be shocked if one didn't come off.

Still, as I say, great result and we will doubtless have the Dave we know and love back to his best soon enough.

As others have alluded to, Fernando had a brilliant game. He had that one dawdle in the first half but other than that, he was the octopus. His passing of 100% is superb considering he was spraying the ball around. His hunger to win the ball in their half, and cover our CBs was exemplary. Really superb.

There will be some upset blue-mooners tonight. What a shower of shit some of our 'supporters' are. "Good first half, shit second; Kiev were shit and unfit; Silva is past it; Toure has been useless;" Just some of the comments I've seen.
The only English team to take a lead into the second leg; the first English team to win the first leg of ANY last 16 game for 4 years, 3rd English team to win in Kiev. Not good enough for some apparently. Dear oh dear.
