We were markedly superior in both games

They could but the chances are surely small. They'll be rested thanks to the delay in playing the game.

If they play Chelsea in the quarters I'd back Chelsea to beat them given that the FA Cup Q/F follows the return leg for Utd v Real Madrid

Preston 1888 didn't concede a goal. Only team that had to play a set of games (in early finals the previous seasons winners got a bye to the final).

In 1887 Preston were beaten by Hibernian in a match billed as the Association Football Championship of the World decider. Hibs were Scottish Cup winners. I am not sure how Preston qualified as their dominance was in the future.
