POTY - Virgil Van Dijk

Well deserved, tbh. I know it's a fucking strange none of our players ever won it but he transformed them to title fighting team and is fantastic defender and player. He rarely puts a foot wrong on the pitch.

He’s had a very decent season and nobody can argue it. Sterling is also brilliant but I don’t think he'll lose any sleep over not winning this award.

The thing with Van Dijk is that if he has another good season next year, Madrid, Bayern or Barca will flutter their eyelids at him and he’ll fuck off, because that’s what happens to Liverpool’s best players.

They might even make a profit on him at that, but they'll not be able to replace him.

Absolutely positive that they’ll make a profit on him. He’s very decent, but very decent players don’t seem to stick around there too long.

Totally agree that they’ll not be able to replace him too.

Salad will be the next one to leave.

Voting is still open for another 25.5 hours.

Unless he’s already won too many votes to be caught.

Probably. It was always done thing until 2-3 weeks ago journos started to write about Sterling, probably after they knew it's over and to show how they care about racism stuf, blah blah.

He can even pass the ball.
That's where he actually is overhyped though, the Mr Rolls Royce bollocks. He's not actually that exceptional on the ball just better than you'd expect for his build. We have two center halfs better on the ball than him and better passers of the ball(long and short... especially long where Laporte's concerned).

He can do it but if he were a City player, I wouldn't want him to linger on the ball too much because he does have heavy touches in him. I think Kompany is better on the ball than him and I don't like when he holds onto it for too long either(both of the same mould IMO). Our goal last year in the CL 2nd leg, came about from him overrunning the ball for instance. He ended up trying to rescue it by hooking it back into play to one of our players, with Sterling closing in on him... deluded Liverpool fans wanted a freekick there when it was mere coming together of his own doing, Sterling had every right to chase that ball down with him.

As a solid CB(physical, great positioning and all around defensive play) who is comfortable with modern defending, a CB playing out from the back, he's one of the best around at the moment. Would have been a good replacement for Vinnie but that De Ligt looks like he might be even better in the long run, if we can get him.
