cathedral, try the dark beer bit of an accquired taste.

Tried some dark beer in Krakow, you-re right - it's an acquired taste, and it's certainly one that I've not acquired!

What lagers do they have over there? I pretty much like any lager really, prefer foreign stuff to fosters, carling etc

Also went in a torture museum that passed an hour. The bridge is class. Don't go in English or Irish bars unless you want the football and have a walk out and you will find some cheap bars.

Might give the torture museum a go. I don't do irish bars when abroad I prefer to embrace the culture. Will go to one for the proto game if I can't find a czech on with the game on though

Do they do the poper absynthe over there then that makes you trip? Is it just standard or do you have to go somewhere particfular to get it? Any ideas how a dukkla prague away kit will go down over there?

Cheers for the info, the more the merrier

Someone else mentioned it earlier in the thread but make sure you know the drill if you get on the tram there.

You have to buy tickets before you get on - there are no ticket machines though - you have to buy them from the shops. Then when you get on the tram make sure you stamp it in the machine immediately.

I bought a ticket and got on the tram - two inspectors were on there but as I had a ticket I thought that was fine. As soon as the tram pulled off they were over to me. I explained and explained that it was the first time I had used it, was a foreigner, had bought a ticket etc etc etc but they just wont have it - £60 fine (iirc) to pay immediately. I had only been their a matter of minutes. Wounded

We all got stung for about £25 each. They could spot us a mile off and knew we wouldn't have figured out the system. Kunda.

My favourite bar in the world is called Medusa in the Vinohradská district. There are plenty of decent bars and restaurants in this are but as it's off the tourist trap you wont get stung.
Get metro to Náměstí Míru (1 stop after Wencelas Sq) exit the station, cross over to Belgickà (name of the street) and it's about 200 yards down on the right hand side.
It's a taste of real Bohemia. Ace beers, staff are great, food isn't bad. Sometimes the place is packed to the rafters, others is fairly quiet but it's always a pleasure.
I wouldn't recommend you go, i would implore you to go, seriously.

One word, Darlings. They've got a midget brass. We were sold it when we were told there are 99 and a half girls in there. Also don't jib on the tram, if you get clocked and kick off the police point guns at you. All in all it's fucking mint, I'm going again at the end of April.

Off Topic demands pictures.

This the place http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Locati...7-Kavarna_Meduza-Prague_Bohemia.html#29562236 ?

Doesn't look that great? To be honest on tripadvisor most places in prague look a bit too fancy dan (restaurants with crap portions) or a bit too basic (wooden tables + chairs in bland rooms)

Is this Medusa bar near a park, on a road where the tram runs down it?

Stayed in Vinohradská about 20 years ago and this sounds like the place we went in. Locals place, packed to the rafters a bit like a bier keller (dark, wooden furniture etc). Food was hearty stuff (Chicken, potatoes, etc) and big glasses of beer.

I remember it, as we asked for a menu and the waiter brought two beers and the food over before we'd ordered. We were bricking it we didn't have enough to cover the tab. We needn't have worried, it was dirt cheap.
