Pre Match Thread | City v Chelsea

City should win this match. At the Etihad, confidence and motivation are high, T-Bone Courtois is suspended (although Begovic is a very capable #2) and most importantly....we're a better football team than they are. I'd like to see the same squad/formation as @WBA with the exception of Kun getting the start. If the manager wants to start Clichy or Zaba I wouldn't mind. Wouldn't be opposed to Nasri over Navas either.

Navas hasn't scored in something ridiculous like 45 PL matches, and thanks to Madchester's nifty pie-chart I noticed Nasri has had success against Chelsea....However....

I've selected Navas. I've noticed Sterling likes to drift inward similar to Silva or Nasri when they're playing in a wider role. no problem with drifting centrally, but if Nasri and Sterling are both doing it the middle may get clogged. We already know there's gunna be 10 men behind the ball, one of them being Matic who has played like one of the best defensive middys in the world recently. might as well stretch out the parked bus with some speed and width courtesy of blue-eyed Jesus.

I sense an early Sterling goal to get the party started.

As i posted on page 2, amazing work Madchester, the pie-chart says 14 goals for City, however if you add it up the sum of goals is only 13. Nonetheless, amazing and I really look foraward to hopefully reading more of your pre-match posts.

Let's get her for our medical team!

Saw her from 20 feet away when Chelsea and Barcelona came to my neck of the woods couple weeks ago for a friendly. To be honest, in person she didn't impress me and the guys sitting around me all that much.

Cheers good spot, I have updated on front page, we did score 14 but the star for Aguero should have been 3 not 2 :)

Love us to tear these cunts apart but you know he'll be set up for smash and grab. Stay concentrated and we can hoefully nick it.

When I started a thread suggesting changing the format of the pre-match thread to cut out much of the naming ineligible players etc, I didn't have anything as good as the OP in mind! I think Madchester has surely come up with the ultimate OP to a pre-match thread but also made a rod for his own back, there's no way he'll be allowed to stop now.

One question though, is the OP going to be updated if there are changes? I'm thinking of things like player injuries, successful appeals etc.

As for the Chelsea match, I don't know what to think. Playing West Brom is one thing, playing Chelsea another. I'd take a 1-0 win now, and a draw would be OK in reality. If we can get a decent win we'll have a fantastic start to the season and be brimming with confidence.

Thanks for your thread for inspiring me to do the write up. Yes I can update the content in the original post with player injuries, successful appeals etc

The Courtois red card appeal was thrown out. Goodness knows why it wasn't extended for being a frivolous challenge.
If we can win this we will really have started the season well.

Amazing post by the OP. Well done!

Aguero for Bony
Fernando for navas maybe due to Chelseas strong midfield trio
Keep Sagna can't throw zabba in this deep
Move the ball quickly into Silva sterling and toure
STAY CONCENTRATED
Win should be ours
