KEY BATTLES

Sunderland have had a terrible start to the Premier League season and look in real danger of relegation. Their only victory has been in a 6v3 victory {match report} in the League Cup against League Two Exeter City with a Rodwell double and a Defoe hatrick.

City will look to bounce back after defeat at home versus West Ham in a game which was heavily influenced by the referees inability to manage the game time and keep up with play. A terrible refereeing performance from an overweight referee with a bad attitude. A day when referee performances should be heavily scrutinized after the disgraceful scenes witnessed at Stamford Bridge where Costa made a mockery of the referee and rules of the game.

FA Premier League 2014/2015 City 3 v 2 Sunderland
I would recommend watching the the 3v2
info-icon.png
match in which YaYa and Jovetic scored great goals and 2 City old boys Rodwell and Johnson scored for Sunderland. Johnson scored from the spot after Roger East awarded a penalty for a foul from Zabaleta.

League Cup 2013/2014 Leicester 1 v 3 City

BETTING ODDS - Oddchecker

Sunderland Away was one of the most dreaded fixtures on the calendar for the Citizens; with City going down 1v0 three times consecutively in the last 4 away games. Last seasons 4v1 victory should bring more hope.

For the pessimistic - you can get odds of 19/1 for a Sunderland 1v0 scoreline!

Surely we can't lose three in a row? Lose here, out of a competition and three loses on the bounce within a week would spell Crisis and confidence will be shattered. Don't think Pelligrini would want that so any chance we had of seeing kids in this cup is gone now, at least for this game, due to the last two games. He will play a strong side ...

Good thing is Spurs who we play next have a tougher derby in the cup and they only play on Wednesday so we should be in better shape physically before the Saturday early kickoff and would have had one extra day in between our games ... but with our current injury list .... who knows!

Rest aguero silva and yaya.

Bony up front with the msg now or never in his ear.

And drop navas ...play roberts as roberts has been playing well and navas needs to know he is droppable.

Otamendi with mdm at centre half

Kdb in the silva role along with fernado and fernandihnio

Sterling on the left

OK Manuel, will you have the balls to go for this starting eleven

Caballero

Maffeo. Otamendi. Demichelis. Kolarov

Fernando. Zucculini

Roberts. Sterling

Iheanacho. Bony

Can't see it in a million years tbqh.

Spurs will play their Europa team against Arsenal, make no mistake about it.

Bad news for us that Kaboul will be suspended.

Glad to see Bony getting lots of support through this poor run of form.

Not sure how SAFC will approach this. They need to kickstart their season, but they are also in desperate trouble. They need to rest players to maximise their chances in the league. SOL will be half empty.

I don't know what kind of team we can field given the injuries.

Nasri, and Navas will probably start. I'd also start Bony and have Aguero on the bench. I assume Willy will start

--------------------Willy
Sagna---Demichelis---Otamendi---Kolarov
----------------Fernando
-----------Yaya Toure--Nasri
-----Roberts-----Bony-----Sterling

We need to do win this

I could not believe it when they bought Kaboul. One of the worst defenders I have seen since the bad old days at City
