'Giving youth a chance' has to play a distinct second fiddle to getting through tonight. I'd be quite happy with a very strong side, perhaps including the likes of Nasri, Navas and Bony who aren't going to get into our strongest team.

With the injuries we are carrying there are fewer of these fringe players to keep happy at the moment, so it's all a bit up the air.

What we can't do of course is pick a load of kids and get knocked out.

Might as well just get rid of the entire academy. If we're never going to give the better lads of the academy a go in our first team to find out if they are good enough to cut it at the top level and to give them valuable experience then what's the entire point? Away to a poor Sunderland side in the early rounds of the carling cup is the ideal situation for a couple of them to get involved.

After 2 defeats on the trot it also allows some of the players to recover and get their thoughts together before a much much bigger game on Saturday at Spurs.

Maffeo, Roberts and Kelechi to be involved from the start would be ideal, and if we're doing well then we could bring on Garcia from the bench.

It's live on BeIN Sports 1 over here in the US so there must be a good stream available. I am working from home today and have mysteriously blocked off two hours this afternoon for a "meeting"...;)

Can't wait to see Pellers either start a decent youth side and we lose and all of you will be outraged we played with so much inexperience or we start a strong team with barely any youth just to win

Why? Would it be so bad if we were knocked out of this comp? We currently have the joint most injuries in the league so, as you've pointed out, there aren't that many fringe players in reserve. Also if we aren't going to take a gamble with youth in this comp then when are we going to take the gamble with them? And if we aren't ever going to gamble with them then what's the point in actively trying to develop and recruit the best youth talent.
Every title is important. Last season shows us importance of not writing off any competition.

If it looks like we're struggling then I hope we bring out the big boys to win it. But I don't think we'll start off with that many kids anyway.

Pelle knows how important winning something is for him this season. If he ends up with nothing 2 years on the run he will know it is time up - whoever might be waiting in the wings. So I suspect he will take this game more seriously than he might have done in any other year.

Maybe a decent blend of both with the emphasis firmly on winning.
Enlighten us as to what you want to see.

i wouldn't mind if he did a Wenger on this one although I'd mix in some experience too. Bony needs to play as does Fernando and Willy. other than that i'm not bothered.

Send KDB in to fuck them up,take him off after an hour 0-3 up,job done. Giz a job on the coaching staff Sheiky
