prem league winter break

It's not a winter break that's required but meaningless international friendlies which in turn free's weekends up in the season to spread games around more. Also fuck off all replays in the FA cup and get rid of 2 legs of the league cup semi finals, go to a neutral venue for a one off game like the FA cup used to be. Also fuck off 2 more teams from the Premier league, preferably dippers and rags.

Talk of the final game before the winter break being the FA Cup third round.

I'd prefer it if it was the first game back. There'd be added excitement to the cup then as everyone would be gagging for more football.

Have the league cup semis be one game at the home ground of whoever is drawn out first and get rid of FA Cup 5th round replays. Two extra fixture spots for PL games then.

Can't do it unless you scrap the league cup or introduce the European qualified Prem clubs to the FA cup at the 5th round stage with no replays.
That would be a great idea especially if PL teams were seeded increasing the chance of lower league teams in 5th and 6th round getting a PL team.

If they bring in a winter break clubs will only use it to go on money spinning mid winter tours half way round the world , making it a waste of time.

This will only work if clubs don't use it as an excuse to go to Dubai or somewhere and play lucrative friendly matches. If the players actually get a break then yeah it can only be a good thing.

If it meant the league season starting on, say, the first weekend of August and ending on the first Sunday of June then I'd be all for it. Ideally the break would be in January instead of December though.

A better first step would be to get rid of FA Cup replays (seriously, who enjoys them?) and take one or two games out of that ridiculous Christmas period to play either earlier or later in the season. The UEFA Nations League is so new that it hasn't even started yet so that's not going anywhere.

I think the only way to do it is to start the season one week earlier, meaning four league games before the first international break, and finish one week later, at the very end of May.

The League Cup seems to happen at a rate of about one round every month- that's pointless. Start it a few weeks earlier and fit the Semi-finals in before new year's day. Make the final the first game back after the winter break.

Winter is all over the place in the UK.

Prem pitches would hold up with the undersoil heating but imagine a month off followed by loads of snow where it's deemed unsafe to travel to games.

Parties pushing for this just see ££ signs for friendlies.

Get rid of international friendlies job done.
