Could you clarify this position?

Bad foul but only a booking. The fact Jagielka was the last man and denied a goal scoring opportunity uupgraded it to Red.
In my opinion such fouls outside the penalty area shoud result in a penalty and a yellow card. The sending of is still harsh IMO.

I, and I imagine many others, strongly believe that the tackle constitutes serious foul and dangerous play and would have been a red card anywhere. It was an ankle breaker.
