Premier League Games | 15/16/17/18 August '25

Narrative set by the media already.

Fresh hope.
Opposition goalie Raya motm in a narrow game.
Not like last season.

Now dickhead sturridge has just said Cuntya lit the place up today.

And he didn't even laugh when he said it.
Simple Simon, the BBC/Rags Chief Waffler suggested that Cunha had already established himself as a crowd favourite before his first game had ended.

To be brutally honest, I thought the rags were the much better side. Arsenal are horrible to watch.
They were better in the second half but didn’t do enough up front to scramble a draw let alone win it. Arsenal were awful going forward, Saka, talk about hype, is he really all that? I don’t think I’ve seen him have a good 45 minutes let alone full match in the years he’s played. No idea why Neville gave Raya MoTM, I thought the lad Dorgu did well. I know it’s only the first game but Arsenal will have to improve if they think they will challenge for the league again, an away win at utd no longer means a good three points.

Do you not think Wolves away vs a fired up and expensively improved Rags team are 2 completely different kettles of fish? Either way I'll take the 3 points - we will play much better and not win. I hope we are equally shite but get the same result at Anfield in our next away match.

I think the game I watched showed me the Red Scum have not improved their game since Amorim has taken them over.

They displayed the same mid tier game tactics as last year... So... You struggled to beat a mid tier team not much further past Wolves today and Wolves finished higher last year, non...?

The same mid tier team you lost one and drew one against last season right?

I'll take the 3 points and live to fight again

Something I've been saying for a long time. He's not a grafter: he's always looking for the easy option, penalties and/or free kicks. I don't know if that's just the way Arteta wants him to play, but for me he's too lightweight and probably better suited to playing abroad, somewhere less physically demanding than here.

He's one weird ****.
A bit like Beckham

Seen most games this weekend and our next opponents Tottenham looked next best after us. Think that game will be a better measure of where we're at, especially given they've become a bit of a bogey side for us.
Think you'll finthe table tells us that Sunderland are next best, on alphabetical order ;-)

What gets me is he never looks before crossing the ball, it hit and hope. I thought he was bringing the ex Chelsea winger on in replace of Saka not Martinelli. Mind you, I don’t rate the ex Chelsea player, he wouldn’t get in the City or L’pool first team.

Couldn't get in the Chelsea first team, obviously ;-)

You moving the goalposts doesn't answer your redundant and dismissive attitude towards Wolves as opponents.

Bit silly, really, considering where both our opponents finished last year.

Obviously United have considerably strengthened (including taking Wolves' best player of last season) but in any case it really doesn't matter - 1st game of the season I don't care how you play, just get the 3 points. Players are rusty, players aren't fully fit. So nobody should take too much notice of anything that happened this weekend other than it was an opportunity to win or lose points whilst not being at the level the team will be later on.

Why? Our record against this lot is awful.

Spurs like dips and rags play a certain way which has constantly caused us problems no matter how shit they are.

You seem to forget Guardiola has altered the way he's set up.

Yesterday was 4-3-3 with inversions. The team didn't carry anyone based on who was in the starting eleven. Much more rotation/ position fluidity than I've seen in years.

I have a solid feeling we'll not be going back to how it was before.

Neither team sparkled, but utd deserved a draw. Arsenal were awful and that goal could have been ruled out. Gyokeres looked like Højlund, made a name on the back of a stuffy hatrick v City, let’s not forget 2 pens and a scuffed shot. I’m not changing my forecast, City 1st, Scouse 2nd

I thought united had some nice play at times but look like a mid table team still.

If they stick with this manager and let him to it over another 2 years, I think they'll steadily improve to be challengers.

Hopefully they'll destroy themselves as usual though. Their media and fans just can't help themselves.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. We are a lot better than opposition fans and pundits think and Liverpool (and Arsenal to a certain degree) are not as good as these same fans and pundits think (or just say).

So, to answer your question : no.

I'll just add to that: we're better than some of us think! That's residual Cityitis.
