If that's true then we're fucked. Don't need a screen now, just a couple of blokes watching telly making the decisions. I wonder when they knew the screen wasn't working.Apparently the screen wasn't working, so the ref overturned Everton's pen based purely on the VAR's advice...

Isn't that pretty much what they do anyway? Yes; they go through the niceties of going to the monitor. But VAR wouldn't tell the ref to go and have a look at the replay if they agreed with the original call. How many times has a ref stuck with his original call after going to the screen?
