That’s the issue with VAR - the ref has the VAR bloke chirping in his ear about what he thinks he’s seen.

The ref is the star of the show these days.
He was smirking as he disallowed that because he knew he would get a massive cheer from the majority of the crowd

The issue, as always, is that most laws of the game are subjective.

This means there will always be contentious decisions on those calls.
 
It had to be deemed deliberate for that to be disallowed. Accidental handball in the build up to a goal isnt deemed a foul.
He leaned into the ball and moved his arm to the ball in order to control it and keep it away from the defender, I think it was deliberate.
