If people bring Messi into a discussion, they have to expect it.

Exactly. Why do they feel the need to mention it, why not praise him on his own merits? I even said there will be similarities but do they literally think he's the only player with some similarities to him? Clearly trying to pile hype on, off the back of Messi's name and moaning when people take issue with it.

It's just not necessary to bringing Messi into the conversation every time there's a new good player on the scene, happens far too often.

Well I’m totally unable to link to specific posts, but I’ve seen it mentioned in respect to not just his touch, but also his dribbling. I’d imagine it’s been in his player performance thread throughout the course of the season, but I can’t say for certain.

I’ve seen it a few times.

I’ve often seen Neville saying he sees similarities in Sane and Ronaldo. I’ve never take the piss out of him as I know he doesn’t think Sane is as good.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with saying Salah plays similar to Messi.
