Sorry. So the referee books the player. VAR check it and are happy he’s dealt with it properly.

VAR can only have been checking a foul…not a red card…so what’s happened there?

If they’re happy he’s dealt with it properly (a yellow) then surely they’re checking for a foul? And it can only have been a booking if there’s a foul. So a penalty?

Or am I missing something?

The ball wasn't in play.

That said, if you ask me - anybody who isn't looking at the ball but is more intent on grappling their man, it should just be an instant penalty. Some of the defending these days looks more like the NFL.
Another gripe, let the corner be taken. The ref only gives the advantage to those committing the foul when they blow up before the corner and say "less of that". If they foul someone, let them deal with the consequences, why do they always give a warning?

Right up there with not being allowed to jump with the 'keepers

Switched off, complete borefest. Missed out on the better game Cov-WBA. Listening to music now, better option.

They're checking that the foul started before the ball was in play. Otherwise, it would be a penalty.

I don't disagree with that. Way too much advantage given to defenders,

Ah, makes sense.

What a nonsense rule. You’d think a foul is a foul.

Somebody could essentially break somebody’s leg and it wouldn’t be a penalty because the ‘ball isn’t in play’.

Shame, Burnley have been competitive, they'll be fighting relegation all season but they won't be out of it.

Chelsea will probably get top 4.
