They're missing the point. Ibrahimovic, Mkhitaryan, Lukaku, Pogba, Mata and Martial have all been top-class or even world-class players at one time or another. It's not the players that are causing the issues, it's the manager. That United squad under Pep would be winning the league (although admittedly Ibrahimovic would be nowhere to be seen) and that's why no matter who they sign- Bale, Ronaldo, Griezmann, even if they perfectly cloned a 28-year-old Maradona- their attacking problems will persist as long as Mourinho sits in SAF's old office.
