I've never understood when they take the picture.
Is it when the balls kicked.
Does the ball and the players foot have day light between them.
And unless the camera is bang on square to the ball how can they tell.

it's supposed to be "at the first point of contact" when the ball is played.

No daylight, no space, no smudged ball; the FIRST point at which the foot touches the ball in the action of playing the pass.

It's all bollocks though and at the moment it's pretty much guesswork, which makes a mockery of the 2mm tolerances they then apply.
