Premier League Games | 27/28/29 Sept '25

Erm something seems amiss here.

Clear penalty for handball but var say no. Arsenal
Clear handball but var say no. Liverpool.

Both Liverpool and arsenal have been helped by var this weekend. Why ?
Not just this weekend, both Liverpool and Arsenal have more points and better goal difference tallies than they should have as a direct result of how they are referee'd.
in contrast Newcastle are worse off than they should be, particularly due to the egregious refereeing in games against the current top two teams in the league.
We're only 6 games in to the season and both Liverpool and Arsenal are arguably 4, 5, or 6 points better off than they should be already.
We're watching referee's and VAR turn the sport of football into a sports based television entertainment product before our eyes, where the entertainment of the viewers at home, the wishes of the pundits, what decision/winner will create the most clicks and fill the most time on the innumerable sports news/YouTube influencer channels, as well as which team winning a game/league/cup will be most profitable and easiest to sell to advertisers, is the be all and end all of what happens on the pitch.

They’re a work horse like Bernardo away from being more than decent. It’s that what’s missing, and a good striker. Surprised they didn’t go for Vardy on a free.
Yes, it's an interesting question - why did Vardy leave the Premier League, with the highest wages, to go to a lower ranking club, in a lower rated League ?
An intriguing conundrum ?
