No it isn't.In modern football it's a foul anywhere else on the pitch; two defenders, one at the front swipes a leg out, the one at the back blocks the run, attacker jumps and collides. 100% foul.
Liverpool had a blatant corner not given for them inside the first 10 mins.Not watching, but it sounds like the officials are on their side again. Only a matter of time before they complete their assignment and award a bizarre penalty against us in a tight game. Then it’s job done and they’ve got the title winners they want.
That's the point I was trying to make. They only give a foul when the player goes down. This encourages diving, and discourages fair play, such as in both instances you cite. Both were fouls regardless of players going down.Not true, actually. I remember Foden being tripped by an opposing keeper, and because he scrambled back to his feet, he didn't get the penalty. Likewise, Sterling was pushed in the back by Walker (he actually admitted it after the game, citing he had to do something to put Sterling off). Again, we didn't get the penalty.
