That was my take on it. Culturally in football they are always given. Proper use of VAR and slo mo enables you to review the incident as you’ve described and come to a better decision than “they’re always given”. But frustratingly VAR just can’t seem to capitalise on its advantageIt wasn’t a penalty. Elliot dove, Taylor was happy to give it, a despite video evidence clearly showing Elliot actually kicked AWB as he threw himself to the ground, VAR rubberstamped the decision.
Still incredibly stupid from AWB, mind.
