Premier League Games 6/7 April '24

It wasn’t a penalty. Elliot dove, Taylor was happy to give it, a despite video evidence clearly showing Elliot actually kicked AWB as he threw himself to the ground, VAR rubberstamped the decision.

Still incredibly stupid from AWB, mind.
That was my take on it. Culturally in football they are always given. Proper use of VAR and slo mo enables you to review the incident as you’ve described and come to a better decision than “they’re always given”. But frustratingly VAR just can’t seem to capitalise on its advantage

Don’t normally watch other teams but my sons staying and put spurs on. Anyway where’s this wall of sound that the single tier everyone goes on about is supposed to generate.

Unfortunately, it is designed (and administrated by the likes of Webb) so that it doesn’t capitalise on that advantage. The “clear and obvious error” thresh hold allows for at least some of the highly variant decision-making from referees that was possible before the adoption of VAR.

And I can’t see the league pushing for that to change.
