The "check the screen" option is ridiculous. The VAR is basically saying they think the on field decision is incorrect but they don't have the balls to overturn it. If the on field ref goes to the screen and doesn't change his mind he's going to get a bollocking from PGMOL and potentially have his career impacted. The system is broken.
I agree, it’s a farce. Everyone knows as soon as the ref is directed to review his decision, it will be overturned. Hang on though - referee Farai Hallam made a rare move in the City v Wolves match on January 24, 2026, by going to the monitor and sticking with his original decision to not award a penalty. The decision was related to a potential handball by Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera. Now who would have imagined that I wonder.

Rice was doing the holding before the alleged foul on the keeper, wasn’t he?
Probably
It's a shit show, but my point stands - it's a total lack of consistency that's the problem.
How many goals should Le Arse have had chalked off for fouls at corners?? It's not just them either - across the season there's loads of goals where shit like that happens.
Time to put a stop to it - put your hands on/around a player, pull a shirt etc. at a corner (attacking or defending) automatic yellow. If it means finishing games 8v7 for a couple of weeks so be it. Want it GONE from the game

I agree totally

All season? Arsenal started this long long time now. Officials had accepted it as legal, in the process more teams followed, not as effectively as Arsenal though. They, Arsenal, are the ones who possess the expertise. Basically they have invented this "strategy", among similar others, of course. Anything that will suit Arteta's vanity...

Since it's gone too far, now officials seem to be having second thoughts about it. I remember the Bornmouth equalizer, earlier this season. I grew up knowing this shit does not exist in football. Nevertheless it stood. So what they do? They start cancelling goals. It happened in one of our games recently (remember which one?), with Pep ironically commenting afterwards: "Today I broke another record"...

The approach remains highly selective though, as we have just witnessed tonight. The player who is supposed to be fouling the GK, look at what he's dealing with, as he's trying to position himself towards the ball. Look at other WH players running in the box, what they're also dealing with. From all this chaos, England decided to isolate THAT moment, and make his interpretation of it...

VAR was introduced to guarantee justice supposedly. Refs could not handle the pace of the game anymore, their mistakes were inevitable. But officials do not want justice. It's not about fucking justice, justice is not the objective, never was. So VAR becomes another tool to manipulate results at will...
Well, it's a flawed system. It can be manipulated to suit one's biases. That should never be the case.
Arsenal also have been fouling on corner kicks all season. There seems to be very little punishment

We don't see much of this kind of jostling in the Champions league do we?

Yeah, VAR looking at the foul by Semenyo on Guehi, awarding an own goal then realising that if it's an own goal then it should have been a foul and no goal, then changing the decision to a Semenyo goal, then afterwards having Howard Webb saying that the replays showed clearly that Semenyo got the last touch, when the replays clearly showed the opposite, was, indeed, criminal.
You could say borderline match fixing.

they'll trail it wednesday night

Even andy fucking Townsend spotted that foul on my feed!

Its true that West Ham player has arm in front of Raya, but the same player being held down by both Gabriel and Trossard so impeding his ability to challenge for the ball, i.e. a pen surely?

Guess not for the corrupt VAR
Having your arm across a player has never been a foul per se.

If that’s the Arsenal CB with his arm across the West Ham striker and he holds him off and heads the ball away to safety every reasonable person on the planet would say “great strength, cracking defending”.

Not one person would be calling for a penalty.

Arm across the opponent’s chest in a duel is one of the first things you learn as a 7 year old.

As you say mate, both the Arsenal players are also fouling. But just ignored and swept under the carpet.

Great comment by a city fan on 606 but chris sutton says the city fan is sore about losing the title & talks over him...then cuts him off. Thanks unbiased Chris.
Sutton is another vile bitter **** who needs a fucking good boot in the face. I don’t read or listen to anything he has to say cos he’s a ****, last season at the semi of the fa cup he said he doesn’t care who wins it long it’s not City, well he got his wish and it’s bastards like him poisoning the media narrative against us.

So we’ve not let them off the hook about 4 or 5 times this season?
Once this week.
We’ve not strolled out for multiple second halves this season?
Just cos I’m not a happy clapper doesn’t make me any less of a Blue.
I’ve been a City fan for 40+ years.
Not that it matters.
You’re obviously angry by today’s result.
I’ll concentrate more on our results, which haven’t been good enough.
Our work rate, movement and mentality hasn’t been good enough in certain games, Monday being a prime example of that.
Until the mad panic at the end of the game.
arsenal aren’t a very good team and neither are we currently.
Far too inconsistent.
I was referring more to your "Our mentality has been piss poor this season", which is bullshit. You do NOT win a trophy, get to another cup final and be in a title race with three matches to play if you "mentality is piss poor". There are 83 other clubs that would have loved to have own the League Cup.

We're REBUILDING, a point that most of you melts seem to keep forgetting and what we have achieved under the circumstances has been excellent by any standards.

I'm not angry at today's result, I didn't actually expect West Ham to get anything from the game but if you're not angry when we (and they) have been robbed of what for us might be the title, and even worse for them as they may go down, there's something wrong with you,

Mate you do know Semenyo plays for us ?

this. Neville decided its a foul, the punditocracy follow suit.

It's only happened once this season the ref who was doing his first ever prem game in our match, he made a decision to our advantage, var sent him to the screen but he stuck to his decision. Next week was relegated back to the efl and never been back since, can't remember his name.
Our advantage? He fucking ignored a clear handball with so bull shit it’s natural to run with your arms outstretched like a fucking aeroplane in a playground.
