Premier League plans play-off for last Champion League place

if im not mistaken if u look at the playoff's in the championship the team who finished 3'rd very rarely makes the promotion. I.E u finish 4'th u dont get chumps league

I agree with hertsblue here. End of the day if 7th beats 4th then where would be the justice?

Are they planning this to be a two-legged event or just the one game each?

I think it's a great idea! Like others have suggested it should be 4th, 5th, 6th and fa cup winners. This way a higher prize is awarded to the fa cup, and will help boost this comp. Overall it will give likes of spurs, villa, even Birmingham this year an extra incentive! Hopefully by the time it comes in we will have established ourselves in the top 3, and we can sit back and enjoy.

They do a similar thing in the Netherlands i think.

Would be pretty annoying if you finished 4th, below 3rd on goal difference, ahead of 5th by 10 points, then lose out in the play-offs.

Dramatic though, and another big event to for sky to hype up.

And this fact alone makes the whole idea an utter nonsense. What point would there be for teams to go all out, attacking, beating teams handsomely, coming to grief against the OldTopThree but significantly ahead of the rest of the pack, and on the day or days of their play-off match they have a couple of key players injured suspended. It's a game of football and anything can happen on the day - we get Obersturmbannfuhrer Crappenburg running the bloody show - he sends off Bellers for being fouled, he awards a corner instead of a goalkick from which Stoke score and bingo, the work of a season is buggered up in one or two fell swoops.

Another occasion for the greedy shits at the EPL and FA to line the coffers.

Bump &......

The Premier league are F**king w**kers - this is all about us getting better, and one of the sky 4 dropping out, and having to sell players (excluding Arse / Chelski).

In the Guardian
One league source said it was an odd twist that the idea has been raised now, in a season when Liverpool's claim to the fourth place is being seriously challenged.
- this sounds like a GC comment, but it is true, we look to push Liverp**l out of their spot, and all of a sudden we hear rumours of play offs - F**cking B*llocks.

Lastly there are already too many games if you are in Europe and in a cup, god forbid if you get to the latter stages of both cups, but I suppose this wont bother Liverpool too much next season (after finishing behind us this season), so thats fine!

You know, we should fuck United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool off to play in a European Super League after all. The commercialism of football has meant that it's almost guaranteed to happen at some time in the near future and because of that, we should just get rid of them before their debts, superiority and arrogance take a massive toll on world football. Seriously, I'm fucking tired of the lot of them. I don't even find the thought of getting into that bracket exciting anymore. We'll just be one of them if we do (we arguably are already) and I don't like that. Football is trying to remodel itself slightly but it needs a massive kick up the ass. Seriously.

Then the rest of us can enjoy football as it once was.

the problem i see with it is this:

i assume that the 4-7th placed teams will be playing off for one chumps league spot and 3 europa league places

now, there is only one europa league spot for league position, the other two come from the FA and league cup winners, so i see no way that this can work then without either making the FA and league cup winners play off with 5th and 4th place or removing the european places from winning the cups!
