So when they have finished parading our trophy round some country that hardly gives a monkeys about our beautiful sport what will happen to it when it gets back to the UK? Any plans?

As it's very obvious you've never set foot inside the Hatter, you may want to know what you say before you say it. The Hatter usually has more Mancs than Yanks on match days. We give a bit more than a monkeys.

Hey Grandsolo, have a good one tonight.

The weird thing about Forza's post is that the Hatter, as I understand it, is also where a lot of Italians go to watch their games. The one time I was in was when we were playing Villareal, they were showing our game in the front of the bar and Napoli/ Bayern in the back area.

The USA has a vast immigrant population which comes from places where football is extremely popular - Italy, Mexico, UK, South America etc. It is a popular sport for kids, and the fact is that there are now 3 or 4 PL teams owned by americans (inc rags & dippers) which of itself provokes interest. If football takes off in a big way in the USA it will hardly be a surprise.

(Oh, and say Hi to Jonesy ;))

Can't bloody wait for this - us exiled blues have been well served by City in recent years in NYC. The Mad Hatter is a great pub. As is the semi-city pub, The Black Horse, in Brooklyn. The reception to English football in NYC is lightyears ahead of what it was even four years ago.

Here is the Mad Hatter right after the final whistle...

Very mixed feelings personally about how many new plastic supporters I want to see here in the US or in Asia, where I lived for a decade.

However, just as a sign of our growing recognition, I find when I wear my home top with Silva on the back around Silicon Valley now as I do most Sundays, I get far more recognition from the average punter now than I did even 6 months ago. My waiter for brunch yesterday wanted to talk about City and Silva's chances at Euro 2012 for 5 minutes while I was trying to order my coffee and eggs.

I received my World Soccer Shop catalog in the mail last Friday and on the EPL merchandise page, City had 6 products featured and were highlighted at the top of the page, while the Rags were relegated to the bottom with 4 and Fulham, Newcastle, Tottenham, and Chelsea with 1 each in between. Never seen us have more than a passing mention in this kind of catalog.

Also just saw a Puma advert on ESPN Sports Center featuring Usain Bolt, Ricky Fowler, Fernando Alonso, some cricketer I've never heard of, and our very own Sergio Aguerro, who was featured in a non-labelled but sky-blue kit. Again, a first to see anyone but Rooney, Beckham, or Messi featured in a prominent campaign state-side.

Finally, my wife's cousin, who is from Korea and lives in NY/NJ, is/was a rag that provided me somebody to regularly text demeaning banter to this campaign. He now says that when Park Jisung leaves the club, he will switch to somebody else, maybe City. My daughter thinks thats great that he will join the bandwagon, but I told her that we don't want someone that fickle and disloyal.

I've said it before, football is about to go 'massive' in the US and we couldn't have timed it better.

It just isnt going to happen. I remember when The Cosmos filled Giants Stadium-77,000 + wth Pele, Carlos Alberto, Chinaglia, Benkenbauer and some guy named Tueart. faded then and it was a lot bigger back then.

If, however, The World Cup would ever come back to the US of A it would be just as successful as it was in 94.

BTW dave got the e mail and I will respond soon.....

The club have paraded the trophy at the opening of a New York soccer school field in Harlem , so stories of the Mad Hatter showing are probably right.

Just got back home 30 mins ago! (10.15am Boston time!)

Was a brilliant night, lots of ex pats and American Blues there, the bar blasting out The Smiths / Roses / Oasis / Monday's / James all night.

Paul Lake turned up with 2 heavies carrying the trophy and Lakey spent the next 4 and a half hours chatting with everyone.

Garry Cook turned up as well, a bit later and did a speech that went down well.

me and my friend Billy were the last to leave the bar at 1.30am as we were booked on the 2.40am train back to Boston (what a fucking killer that turned out to be, arriving at 8am) - and managed to find a curry house to fill the time in between leaving the bar and getting the train. My first curry since leaving Blighty in September!

The pub was plastered with City stuff, hopefully pictures will get posted later.

Right, off to bed!

In NYC from 10th - 17th June.

Any of you NY Blues know if the Hatter will be showing the England games?

Are kids (14yrs) allowed in the Hatter?

cheers
