Premier League Clubs have voted for wage and spending rules to be introduced.

What are everyone's thoughts on this? Turkey's voting for Christmas.

..The Premier League’s Financial Fair Play regulations have been ratified at a summit in London today.

The Premier League needed a two-thirds majority for the fine details of the wage restraints and cap on losses — accepted at the previous meeting by the narrowest of margins — to be added to the rulebook.
Ahead of today’s meeting a number of clubs were believed to be undecided — but this afternoon 14 clubs voted in favour, five against, while Swansea abstained altogether.

Abstained: Swansea were the only club to abstain from the vote
It means the likes of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will be subject to spending restrictions for the first time since he bought the club nearly a decade ago.

There are two significant elements of the new rules – to limit wage bills and restrict the amount clubs can make to £105m over three years – and any breach of salary or spending regulations could result in a points deduction in the most extreme cases.
Clubs whose total wage bill is more than £52m will only be allowed to increase their wages by £4m per season for the next three years.

Restricted: Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will be subject to spending restrictions for the first time
But the restrictions only apply to the income from TV money — so any income from sponsorship deals or tickets sale can still be spent on wages.

The ceiling when the wage increase restrictions kick in will be £52m next season, £56m the following year and £60m in 2015-16. Only seven of the current top-flight clubs would be under that ceiling at the moment.
The regulations have come about against the backdrop of UEFA's Financial Fair Play (FFP) initiative – which can result in exclusion from the Champions or Europa League from next year.

Re: Premier League Vote

Premier League boss Scudamore sent all clubs letters that were borderline threatening telling them to vote for FFP. It was revealed in The Times. But some would have you believe United have no influence at the top. Once again corruption shows its ugly face. Premier Leagie "relieved" the rules passed according to Charles Sale, why would they be "relieved" if it was a diplomatic vote? Because they are on their knees for United and David Gill is more or less in a position to run the FA right now with his second-in-command gig coupled with the power of being United's CEO.

This has no huge effect on us as it isn't as strict as UEFA's FFP which we are attempting to comply with but City were still venomously against it on principle.

Re: Premier League Vote

I think we managed to storm the castle before they could lift the drawbridge. This will have adverse effects on teams not currently in the Chumps league spots. The likes of Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest ever being able to compete at the highest level of English and European football are gone forever I'm afraid.

Plus there's more than one way to skin a cat, pay players 10 bob a week as wages, but sponsorship deals signing on fees etc can make up the remaining £249,999.50 he gets per week!!

Re: Premier League Vote

You just watch how this will affect overseas players coming to our shores.
Just make sure City that you offer some wonderful bonuses to combat this, assuming this also isn`t in the remit for seriously doing futher damage.
