Present Day Football, Fans and Any Other Stuff You Hate About It!

Leaving early. I get it if we are 3-0 up or down but the amount of people who got up and walked out when they scored the pen to make it 1-1 was ridiculous. Guy near me lost his shit with a few people. I'm usually reserved but just looked at him and told him how unbelievable it is.

Sorry to contribute yet another complaint on the forum this week, but I've been holding onto this thought for about three years and I finally spoke about it with the people sat around me on Sunday. Thought I'd finally put it down in writing.

Since we all came back after the pandemic, the Tannoy/PA system at the Etihad has been far too loud, to the point where I can't even hear myself think before the game or at half-time, never mind have a proper conversation with the person sat in the seat next to me.

Before the pandemic, this never used to be the case. But when we came back for the start of the 21/22 season, where I sit in the North Stand, they'd put five large speakers just under the roof that seem to have been cranked up to 11 since the day they were installed.

It's making the atmosphere a lot worse as well. Not only can you not chat to a mate unless you're on the concourse, you can't get chants going before the game either because no bugger can hear you. It's spoiling part of the "matchday experience" for me, to be honest.

Before the derby at the weekend, they at least tried to get the atmosphere going by cutting the music completely. And it worked, to be honest. The fans were just allowed to sing on our own for a bit. But for every other game you're just blasted with loud adverts and some music.

Does anyone else feel similarly?

The short attention span.

Your team can win 4 titles in a row, that no other club has ever done. You can win a treble. Reach 100 points. Win the CL for the first time in the clubs history. Set record after record...

But then have a bad run of results and everyone at the club is finished, everyone needs fucking off and selling, the manager is done and found out...

I think the toilets are too small, the seats uncomfortable, the stairs too steep, the ambient temperature too cold...

And don't get me started on the grass length.

Half 'n' half scarves are an abomination, but there are a lot worse things:
A team reaches the FA Cup semi-final and the FA take ages to decide the days and kick-off times. There is often European football in the previous or following week so one team might well be restricted to Saturday or Sunday, but the FA don't confirm anything until cheap travel has gone. The potential semi-final permutations are known as soon as the quarter-finals are drawn so the FA should prepare the days and times at that point and release them as soon as the semi-final draw is completed.
The disconnect between the club and fans is also a disgrace. I saw a survey from City last week and it was just a box-ticking exercise. Have you witnessed swearing, racial abuse, tragedy chanting etc? OK, racial abuse is abhorrent, as is tragedy chanting when aimed at Munich or Hillsborough, but the vast majority of tragedy chanting is merely banter which upsets dippers. As for swearing; if that was clamped down on you'd be lucky to get attendances above 5,000. - Apart from tourists who would be allowed to swear in a foreign language. - My post-fuck-up language on Sunday would have me banned for ten years.
And this Nations League shite. It just classifies games as competitive so we can't withdraw players as the pisscan used to do. Club before country every time.
But it's not all the fault of football. The council banning parking on non-residential streets is a sick joke especially as the post-match bus and tram services are so poor.
I'm sure I could add another half dozen item to this list but I've got to nip out.
There is one trend in modern football I do like though: This business of city winning loads of stuff. We may be utter crap at the moment but the last fifteen years have been brilliant.

You missed, the teams shit

It's because you're in the cheap seats, I pay a little more and get a free set of the latest sennheiser headphones every game.
