President Joe Biden

Hey I'm a neutral in this just airing my active interest in Politics and World affairs from the side lines while I'm over here.
So permit me to make observations but I think labelling the 51% currently disapproving of Biden which 'bluemoonacrossthepond' refers to collectively as 'retards' or 'racist' is a nonsensical remark as is bracketing the 40 % of Americans (approx 60 million people) you reckon still support Trump collectively as 'evil or stupid'.
The world needs an honest, fair, strong US leader who can unite the Country and other democracies at this most dangerous time.
You are out-of-touch with politics in the USA.

It's ultra-polarized.

And indeed 40% or more of Americans are brainwashed by Fox News. Some of them actually believe in space lasers and lizard people - but not most.

Some believe that a deep state secret cabal consisting of pedophiles is at work to undermine the United States and that the Democratic party is actively in support of the cabal - but not most.

Some believe that the US election was rigged - wasn't fair - and that Donald Trump - if not for election fraud - would be our President now - some - and unfortunately, most.

In other worlds - most Republicans are beholden to falsehoods and this of course is evident in their voting.

Some of this gullibility is in fact racist; some of it is stupidity; but I think, most of all, it's a matter of wanting to believe in something that aligns with your mindset.

I couldn't agree more - and yet, this statement seems to have a built-in misunderstanding of US politics.

There's no way in hell any US politician will get more than about 55% of the populace behind him. 80% plus of the electorate is already locked into pro-Democrat or pro-Republican.

I can make it a little simpler perhaps , they might post it because they feel sorry for Sleepy Joe.

What a bloke being ignored and appearing like a fish out of water at a function noting 12 years of some supposed health reform even if its the current president of the USA has to do with these " reasons " only someone with a fixation on fascism and " right wing " labels to anybody who doesn't fit their narrative on anything political or inferenced as politically "sound" and " good " or right and proper could even remotely deduce as being " truth " or falling into a trap (LOL).

I have no qualms in having the sociopath no longer called the President of the USA but I am bemused that the previous one is still ghost writing the current ones autocue from his basement as was his wish when interviewed on the subject a while ago.
It's laudable that you dislike Trump.

But your "Sleepy Joe" comment and rambling stream of conscious attack on Joe Biden isn't going to win anyone over.

Biden is an imperfect centrist politician who is not charismatic and who is prone to an occasional gaff.

Biden is President of the USA though because he is centrist. He's able to appeal to that very small undecided minority - as a reasonable leader who supports majority positions on most political issues.

Fair play - Biden isn't perfect. To which I'd say:

Best is the enemy of the good.

And moreover, there is no best, currently.

And sadly, best is, at this time, impossible.

Absolutely. In fact, it may even be more like 43-45% of Republicans, with Dems being a little more wishy-washy at the margins.

Buden absolutely won because he won the black vote and the moderate suburbanites who watch 4 yrs of Trump and said “I didn’t sign up for this shit!”

Sadly, even with that, Biden won by the skin of his teeth in a few closely contested states.

The election the first black female to the SCOTUS will firm up his support in the black community, while new Republican Voting laws will continue to try to disenfranchise them.

The Midterms are ALWAYS cast as a “referendum on the President” by the Party in opposition, because it is absolutely not that, yet always seems to go against the Party in the White House!

Why? Because the opposition, esp Republicans, are experts at pointing out their grievances with the Party power! They can give you chapter and verse of what they think is wrong, and will lead you down the garden path as to why (even though it is 90% BS), but Americans are very big on believing they can actually “fix” what they don’t like by voting for a different Congressperson to represent them. 99% of the time they are wrong, because their vote AGAINST the Party in the White House often neuters the Legislative Agenda and results in the kind of gridlock they hate.

And the American Democratic Republic crawls forward…

Given an overheating economy, supply chain shortages, a reduction and contraction of the easy money used to get through the pandemic, and a war in Europe, I think Biden is doing a decent job, even if he does speak before thinking sometimes.

Sadly, many Americans think he is to blame for inflation, Republican chicken hawks think he’s not doing enough in Ukraine, the Looney Toons think he is beholden to the far left of the Party (which is delusional), and the Fed is so far behind in raising interest rates, they’re going to be forced into 50 basis points in May, and possibly June, too.

Republicans I know point to these things and then turn and point at Biden. It’s the American disease…lack of critical thought, esp about somewhat complicated issues that require a scintilla of reflection and correlation of facts.

It was purely an observation and it had no design to win anyone over but again its a fair stretch for you to talk about all supporters of one individual as being of like mind of that individual however you define him.

Not everyone who supports an " evil politician " is evil similarly not everyone who supports a politician who is not racist are not necessary cut from the same cloth.

If you vote for someone you are endorsing them

If you vote for an unashamed and unapologracist you are endorsing racism…which is called being racist.

Sorry but you can’t get away from that. You can’t claim to be against racism while also voting to put a proven racist in charge of your country.

The same goes for his corruption and misogyny.

You can if you’re a bit thick.

JFK was corrupt and a known womaniser and dependent on drugs to keep him in sync so to speak and if I was in living in America and could vote I probably would have voted for him but that doesn't necessarily mean I endorse his behaviour or character or all of the policies his party attempted to implement and stood for.

Every politician who has wanted office has had to cross certain divides , step on few toes etc to get where they are so to speak.

BTW I wouldn't have voted for either in the 2020 election.

Also the the definition of racism has become much blurred and I have for example been accused of being racist on this forum for endorsing some of the foreign policy implemented by the Republican Party when the Orange Man was around a complete an utter load of tripe as I don't have a racist bone in my body.

I don't like China's foreign policy under its present regime and some I know would call me racist for holding that view (LOL).

of course you can get away from that and its far too simplistic and ignorant to think otherwise.

This really is an amazingly revealing comment.

Happy for you domalino that you think so , yours was a gross generalisation and very much against the grain of what US politics is and has been for many a year.

if your own views of what is best for you are not aligned with those in Blue would you vote for them because you don't like who is leading the other party.

You must have thought less of a human being on this forum alone and have demonstrated it time and again when you think their view is different to yours but that doesn't make you racist nor them its just that you might be a tad chambered.
