President Trump

It shows how fucked up this all is. In my 67 years on this planet I never thought I'd be typing this.

I'm a little younger than you, but still had parents brought up during the war, and family members of the previous generation who were involved in various capacities. Growing up in the shadow of MAD and the cold war, as a child slowly becoming aware of the world I was afraid of nuclear war, as I grew older and understood the purpose of MAD, I became less fearful. When the wall came down I relaxed and thought I'd never see war in europe or the prospect of world war 3.

And here we are

On tv again saying they’ve found loads of fraud, yet no one has been charged at all. It’s the same shit different day, Musk talking bollocks as usual, it’s all sound bites and nonsense.
They must have had thousands of forensic accountants hiding in cupboards waiting to be unleashed the amount of fraud they've found in a few short weeks

cunts

I'm aware, but once the shotgibbon and the rest of the MAGA loonies are removed, then the remaining senate impeaches shitgibbon and just dim and everyone lives happily ever after.

I'm also aware it's an unlikely and dangerous road to go down, but I don't see much alternative. Shitgibbon isn't going anywhere voluntarily and I don't think mid-terms will change that

It's hard to imagine anything much worse than what we have now, but I think a military coup could well be.

They don't have a great track record.

There's been loads of fraud. Just for starters:

- Amazon paid Melania a $40 million bribe
- Trump started and manipulated a new crypto
- ABC paid Trump a $15 million bribe

you may be right, but I'm struggling to see how it could be much worse. It's rare to have a military coup in a first world country, so I'm hedging towards it being limited and for a specific purpose, with control returned to a democratically elected senate once the objective was achieved.

That's alternative fraud.

Trump wants to expose transgender farmers who have got money to research male menstrual cycles.

It never even occurred to me that you were being serious...

And from the miracle of Google

Last Friday, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins stated on X that a $600,000 grant to Southern University in Louisiana was being revoked for studying "menstrual cycles in transgender men,"

but...

The grant was actually intended for research on the potential health risks posed by synthetic feminine hygiene products and for developing alternatives using natural fibers and fabrics, according to the project's documentation

The obsessive bullying of transgender people - chosen because they're both "other" and vulnerable - is a good indicator of what sort of utter scum make up this movement.

I was just in the US for a couple of weeks and two people I know told me they have a friend or family member fired from the federal government. Plus my in-laws have members of their extended family who will be affected by the loss of TPS for Haitians. And my parents-in-law will be vulnerable to social security and/or medicare cuts, and my brother-in-law, who is disabled, to cuts in Medicaid. I think the effects of his bullshit are already mounting.
Oh, I agree, but these “pockets” (as I described them, and your anecdote illustrates) haven’t reached a tipping point with the Americans that will stand up, protest, or show that it’s reached a critical mass.

I think the ploy is break it. Then, maybe fix up the little bits getting the most attention and noise for now, then make it so the rest is gone, unfunded, incredibly difficult to ever put back together again…both financially and logistically!

Et voila! American institutions, departments, and services wiped off the map…because you’re not going to find politicians with the will to take the tax increases needed to reopen & refund them.

From then on, the Shock & Awe will have been successful, because there is only so much time and attention (and money!) that can be used to address the alligators closest to the boat!!!

This cabinet meeting seems to be about them flapping now, saying they’ve had bumps in the road, interest rates need to come down etc. I think they are starting to panic now, next week when tariffs hit and so called liberation day it’s going to get worse. Spouting shite about Greenland now.

Denmark apparently "regret" ordering the F35. Can't say I'm surprised, what does surprise me is they (and every fucker else) haven't cancelled the orders
Cancellation costs and the lack of a ready replacement on such long-tailed programs is often a big issue.

What should happen, though, is that Europe should turn its attention to every future purchase being from their own supply chain. That would affect American military manufacturing going forward, as they survived (much as Boring has done) on future orders.

The market is “popping” today based on the belief that “Liberation Day” is going to be a lot less onerous and of limited scope.

The whole threat is performative nonsense designed to instill fear in order to effectuate change before the threat is acted upon.

The very definition of bullying, but Trump’s idea of diplomacy.
