President Trump

Agreed, paying for it is a problem. Cutting foreign aid is more a political statement than really solving that problem. Getting more people working is the answer (more tax revenue and less benefit expense) -
Seeing as more than half the benefits payments go in to the state pensions, are you sending your grandad back to work?

While you're right that there are plenty of MAGA policy talking points that go beyond Trump himself, a HUGE part of that movement is dedicated to, and depends on, propping up Trump's little cult of personality.

MAGA feels like a movement that will lose a fair amount of steam once Trump either goes senile or croaks. It won't just burst like a bubble overnight, but I haven't seen a "true believer" MAGA politician that looks like they can take up the mantle of the movement and keep it going with the same gusto.
Agree, take out Mango Mussolini and that will be most of the problem solved !

At least trump isn't getting his grubby hands on the "rare earth" ffs.

The thing that I found most delusional is that he kept reiterating how putin and russia respect's him.

If he genuinely believes that, and he probably does then he's not fit to be potus on that alone.

He's a useful buffoon for putin, or even worse than that he's compromised.
Here you are, Mr. President, some night soil for your lithium production.

This fuss all aside. Why is this prick doing 'diplomacy' in the Oval Office in front of scores of cameras, lights, reporters. This should be done in private where real talks can happen and things achieved.

Answer: its all theatre. He thinks it is The Apprentice.

They live in a soundbite world, for short little snips of news and publicity and image. To say its dumbed down is an insult to the Love Island/Facebook generation. Its worse because this is real, but he thinks its reality tv. If it wasnt so life affecting it would be like The Truman Show. Honestly, they are fucking clowns over there. They wanted this and voted for it. Absolute jokers best fucked off until the next generation, who know it now, can recover and try and get some semblance of normality back if theres anything left of it by the time this tool leaves
It is the Truman show and Trump can’t tell the difference between reality and the make believe world in his head.

Agree that Trump's cult of personality helps propel MAGA - bigly :-) - as of now. And it's likely that MAGA wouldn't fare as well - at least in the Presidential race - without Trump (but elections might not be fair in 4 years time).

On the other hand, there are numerous extremely popular MAGA figures. Post Trump I think they'll find some other figure to rally around - e.g., Musk, were he eligible to run - they'll find someone.

MAGA is bigger than Trump - and isn't going to die anytime soon, even if Trump can't run for office in 2028.

He has dragged it to the forefront though.

If you have to constantly tell people someone respects you/you’re a big club/a famous club/clever etc etc You absolutely aren’t.

I'm presuming the Fox News (11pm) interview was cancelled.

I just watched Fox News for about 15/20 minutes and you can tell from their tone that even they're shocked at what happened today. One reporter was saying he disagreed with JD Vance's comments about Zelensky not saying thanks.

It feels like even one of Trump's biggest supporters is struggling to support this.
Murdoch worried about his own power.

Spot on.

Trump is after a Noble Peace Prize - only thing is he intensely dislikes Zelenski - and underestimated the man. Trump thought that Zelenski would sign a rare earth minerals deal with little in return from the USA - so why not get this achievement in front of camera?

I have been thinking about this for a few hours now.

Bear with me.

1) This was an ambush designed to humiliate and minimize Zelenskyy.

2) They have now created a narrative of Zelenskyy and Senator Graham has said he needs to resign.

3) Putin will get Ukrainian land (win), Trump will get billions in “raw earth” minerals (win), and Zelenskyy will end up out of a job in the near future (Putin & Trump win, European and Democracy will lose).

4) Ukraine will end up with a Putin puppet as President.

5) Putin gets Ukraine, for all intents and purposes, without losing another soldier or tank.

6) Trump will get paid.

The end game here is the same as the “yesterday” game, as we saw with the numerous iterations of Ukrainian leadership prior to Zelenskyy and the invasion, which is that Putin gets to CONTROL Ukraine (much as he does Belarus) without the war.

Disgusting that Trump has become Putin’s bitch and an agent of the Russian state and is trying to deliver Ukraine to him.

Trump has hated Zelenskyy since he felt like he helped not get Trump elected in 2020 and was a Biden lover. Trump is not going to stop until Zelenskyy is out of power, and Graham just started that narrative ball rolling…
Off the cuff, I agreed with every point you made. But neither you, nor I, are as capable of accurately reporting these events as are professional correspondents whose sole mission is to report the truth.

I turn to Washington Week for professional insight. Here's what they said... well worth the watch.
