Price of Asahi Super Dry at ground

The biggest improvement is from paper cups to the plastic cups.

I don't know who's fault it was at City, but the combination of Amstel Larger in paper cups was the worst tasting beer I have ever had. And that took some doing. Carlsberg in plastic bottles at Burnley wasn't far behind.

As for Asahi, it's not bad at all. For a beer at a football ground it's pretty decent.

Sadly it still doesn't come close to Beavertown - Gamma Ray Pale Ale that is brewed onsite at the new Spurs stadium. Fuck me, it's good!

The number one spot belongs to Beavertown Brewery, or at least their Gamma Ray American Pale Ale.

Other lines are available from the Tottenham-based brewers, and Heineken is also stocked at the new Spurs stadium, but while Mauricio Pochettino and his side will remain ranked only as high as dark horses for the Premier League title, their in-house hoppy associates sit pretty as the best the clubs of the capital have to offer.

Hopefully City will do something similar and incorporate a micro brewery into the proposed fanzine. I doubt it will happen. But you never know.
We got 4 pints of this on the Champions League night and threw them straight in the bin it was disgusting lol

2 pints Asahi, 2 pies, 2 bags of chips (discount included) £26.50

As a brucie bonus, the beer tap was playing up and I had to wait 10 minutes for the two pints to be produced from gallons of bubbles. Finally they had to get them from the outlet next door. As a thank you for my good natured patience I got a third pint for free. Chips were excellent I have to say.

You pay £5.25 for a pint of pissy Carlsberg in Mary Ds on match days, Id say that's an even bigger rip off considering any other day in there the same pint costs less than £4.
I'd love to know what sort of wrongun would venture into that shithole unless it's a match day.

It is by some distance the scruffiest dirtiest most awful pub I've ever been to in my life.

That one season with the paper cups was the first one back after Covid.

I'm convinced they just didn't flush the lines properly after cleaning them from being closed for 18 months. The drinks tasted like chemicals and it slowly improved as the season went on.

Over a fiver a pint, but hundreds still piling out on 36 minutes and returning at 50 to drink it.

Ha ha yes I've never got the obsession for the majority of football fans to throw as much drink down their throats as possible. Unless you have a strong bladder it makes for more frequent trips to the toilet too so missing parts of the game.
Now when we were shit and football violence was rife I understood it. It deadened the pain of watching the team and any clumps you got from other fans. It also gave you some Dutch courage, much needed at a lot of away grounds.

In SSL3 on Saturday I got BBQ Chicken Wrap (Southern Fried Chicken, coleslaw, BBQ Sauce, Lettuce and a Hash Brown randomly) before the game which was actually really nice. I got with an Apple & Blackcurrant drink (same size cup as the coke & lemonade) with it and it was £9.90 but when I said I had a season ticket it went down to £8.91, which given I quite enjoyed the wrap wasn't too bad I didn't think all things considered

It was £5.30 last season and £4.77 with the 10% discount applied, so it’s a near 10% increase this season. They’re taking the piss a bit with that and it’s indicative of food and drink inflation in general. However, I paid £7 for a pint of Asahi at the same South Stand bar when watching Coldplay at the end of May and I doubt that there are many places in Manchester doing Asahi for less than £5.27 a pint to be fair.
deffo 4.77 with discount last season.

ive just moved to SS3 this season, I noticed there is a pick up point at half time for drinks....how does that work

With all the extra injury time this season, they might even get back to their seats for the start of the second half.

This does assume that the bar staff aren’t slower than they were, which is highly likely.

If it’s like they do in theatres you pay in advance and they give you a number.

Though in theatres there’s honesty involved - they usually place the drinks on a counter with a number on and you collect yours.

Somehow I don’t see that working at football as some people are thieving little cunts.

£5.22 with discount this season.

A 45p rise.

That will increase the reported £700mill revenues in the next financial results. ;-)
Don’t think City get any money from the sales, just the contract tendered for them to sell drinks and food.

Yup, mineswept many a half time pint at Maine Road, when we were mostly thieving little cunts.

Me :) haven't been in there for a few years only went in before the Newcastle game to have a pint whilst I caught up with a couple of OSC lads and got out pronto

Whilst at the bar pregame order whatever beer/cider & you receive a circular token to hand in at the separate HT collection points. Works pretty well in all fairness. One of the few efficient processes implemented by City.
