Priced out? | Club announce that matchday tickets being reduced by up to 43% (p93)

If it's any consolation, i quit my season ticket after 30 years, this season i've really not missed going - in fact i have turned down a couple free tickets! rather do something else or watch game indoors/pub.
I'm still a ST but have come out of the cup schemes one by one over the last 3 years and I used to love a Tues / Weds night watching a CL game.

The thing is, although it was nice to catch up with those who sit arround me, I now can wander out of my house at 7.30, into a pub, have a few pints watching in the warmth, have a quick scoop after the final whistle and home by 11pm and all for the price of 4-5 pints.

Whereas I would have to rush home from work, set off at 6pm and not get home until after midnight, fighting onto the Metrolink in both directions and freezing on the colder nights watching us play the same teams each year and paying £40-£60 for a ticket.

It's remarkable how easy it is to not miss the half and half scarfs and the people around you ticking off a bucket list visit and videoing the whole match, or the wait and sardine tin of the Metrolink. If the St prices had gone up then this would have been my last year, but I'll probably renew.

As has been previously said, I'm a fan, but am increasingly being treated as a customer, rather than a fan.

Exactly how I feel, totally different when I was in my teens/20’s. I’ve no sense of loyalty going anymore, the players don’t care if you’re there or not, likewise if anyone leaves 5 mins earlier.

Tickets have been expensive for decades if you don’t have season cards.

And that needs to stop, and football fans need to stop suggesting that this is the way it is.

If they don't start pinning their ears back we should all just say no and allow them to self harm using their own greed.

Got into a disagreement with somebody yesterday. A typical 'I'm alright Jack' kind of attitude. Saying his £700 season ticket was excellent value and pricing was just the way it is across the Premier League. Had to correct him numerous times about pricing elsewhere and highlight we were often far more expensive. He was also adamant the club froze the prices as if they weren't backed into a corner with the protests and of the belief they always intended to freeze them. He believed the protest was purely about Viagogo. Again I had to correct him, but it really was like talking to a brick wall. Unfortunately there's a number of these supporters and the club must absolutely love them. I think they're dicks.

I'm not sure they are all dicks, but I see your point to a degree. Many fans just don't look beyond their own position, and £37 per game (£700 for the season) is good value. If they don't read the negatives regarding overall pricing, touting agency prices, tourists, and away fans in the home ends, then they won't be aware of how seriously many fans view these issues. Fans aren't wilfully ignorant about the problems but mainstream media only mention poor treatment of fans when it reaches the protest stage.

Certainly some are. Don't look beyond their own position which is selfish or ignorant at best.

He would be up in arms if he ever expects his kid to be automatically issued a ST by the club like many do.

My FOC platinum ticket works out at £28-16 a game, but I'm still annoyed that Palace tickets for today start at £61 and tickets for Villa are even dearer. CL games just leave me cold with the number of people attending who clearly don't give a shit about City. - I don't mind a bit of groundhopping, but not when the tourists are getting tickets because locals have been priced out.

Season tickets is a strange one for me. It's clear Premier League clubs are trying to suppress numbers of them and we certainly aren't alone on that score. I don't know if this demand is truly increasing or not due to the unaffordability of matchday prices so people are getting out of the habit of going. I'm therefore concerned some want one for the wrong reasons. Just to avoid matchday prices and the headache of attaining a ticket for the more glamour ties. I'm sure there's a number of people that'd go without one if ticket availability was truly there for the 'bigger' games and not syphoned off to their ticket partners or hospitality and individual sales were more reasonably priced.

As of yet I’m undecided about renewing, had a season ticket for fifty years plus . Tired of how fans are treated , tired of being ripped off . Never thought I’d contemplate not watching City week in and week out .

Up to you obviously blue but I think you should try and do something first before you make a decision. Not that the club give a fuck or will listen

Mo Salah now on £400K a week.

Is it any wonder PL clubs keep on rinsing the fans dry?

When are the club owners and directors going to stop this madness, or are they just going to keep on paying players ridiculous wages, whilst bleeding the fans dry?

Instead of squabbling with each other, and trying to destroy each other, why don't all the PL clubs agree to a wage cap, and tell the players to pay their agents fees instead of the clubs paying their agents fees?

Between the 20 PL clubs they paid out close to £500mill in agent fees last season. How many season ticket and match day ticket price rises would cover across the 20 PL clubs?

If Carlsberg made dicks..........

I have a mate whose cousin passed away recently and both of them being season ticket holders. He's thinking along the same lines and his cousin being part of the experience for him has now got him saying that he doesn't know whether he wants to go any more. I'm trying just to convince him to re-new anyway and list on the exchange/utilise the guaranteed refunds next season and then make a decision the following year. Too raw for him at the moment to make that decision to bin it off and then regret it. I'd advise you to do the same.

Had a million pound watch on when signing his new contract too. It's fucking mental.

the season ticket renewal is interesting, like many I've had mine since 1976. my personal thoughts as I/we have had it so good in the past 8 years, and more so in the past 4-5 years. we've won everything, had experiences I/we never really expected.

this seasons has been tough with injuries, aging hero's, slow football, new players coming in and no idea if they'll be our hero's of tomorrow.

I'm still invested in the club and prepared to give my time to support the club, freezing of ticket prices made the decision that I will renew. I think the club has changed for the worse, for all the reasons that have been documented, I prepared to see what happens over the next 12 months.

And I bet he didn't have to pay for the watch. Showcasing the watch to the world whilst signing his new contract.

Ironic isn't it?! People struggling to make ends meet and then it feels like he's there rubbing everybody's nose in it parading a watch that would cover well over a thousand people's season ticket outright.
