I'm still a ST but have come out of the cup schemes one by one over the last 3 years and I used to love a Tues / Weds night watching a CL game.If it's any consolation, i quit my season ticket after 30 years, this season i've really not missed going - in fact i have turned down a couple free tickets! rather do something else or watch game indoors/pub.
The thing is, although it was nice to catch up with those who sit arround me, I now can wander out of my house at 7.30, into a pub, have a few pints watching in the warmth, have a quick scoop after the final whistle and home by 11pm and all for the price of 4-5 pints.
Whereas I would have to rush home from work, set off at 6pm and not get home until after midnight, fighting onto the Metrolink in both directions and freezing on the colder nights watching us play the same teams each year and paying £40-£60 for a ticket.
It's remarkable how easy it is to not miss the half and half scarfs and the people around you ticking off a bucket list visit and videoing the whole match, or the wait and sardine tin of the Metrolink. If the St prices had gone up then this would have been my last year, but I'll probably renew.
As has been previously said, I'm a fan, but am increasingly being treated as a customer, rather than a fan.
