Priced out? | Club announce that matchday tickets being reduced by up to 43% (p93)

View attachment 152536

there IS availability for this event City, sort your website out ;)

anyway, £61 to £78, Palace at lunch time.
Plenty of legit tickets on twitter for £20/£30 and they’re not being taken up, so at £61 there’s no chance.
City’s hierarchy might well say, we virtually gave the tickets away against Salford and Plymouth and didn’t sell out either, so where are all these fans desperate to get in?

Don’t get me wrong I think the prices are shocking but we can’t have it both ways.

The games against Salford and Plymouth yet again saw approx 6000 home supporters moved to accommodate away supporters.
Again.
Possibly the most vocal part of the ground dispersed by club / police…
It gets me frustrated, and the guys that stand near us at the back.
We still go but at times it pisses me off a lot. Some guys probably just don’t go because they don’t want to.
There is frustration despite the brilliant success we have enjoyed. Prices/agencies/ Istanbul/away support/ away allocation /kick off times etc, just take the choice…
Anyone who can’t go - is their right…
Difficult times at the moment.. but hopefully 3 points tmz…

So the fans who get priced out of all the big games and don’t have have a chance of getting tickets for league games, should just accept and only go to the games against teams like Salford?

It’s not both ways. The club are desperate for all the legacy fans to come back when they can’t sell out, but couldn’t care less for the bigger games.

I don’t care who we are playing, but it’s not exactly fair. People get into habits and after treating fans like crap, we shouldnt expect them to come waltzing back.

I’d argue most of the Salford crowd were locals or priced out fans as well - it’s season ticket holders who aren’t attending cup games

Fair points but, I can pick up plenty of tickets, today, for Palace and Villa for £20 or £30. I can pick up a ticket for the last 3 games of the season for £90, U-18 ticket, for tomorrow, £10. Level 2 padded seat £25.
Doesn’t feel like people are that desperate to go and the club behaving like twats gives them the perfect excuse not to bother.

Are you picking those up on Twitter? Here or resale sites. Most people don’t use those sites and shouldn’t have to. They will go off what the club are charging. The villa game is £60+ isn’t it?

Spot on mate. I don’t get this argument that I won’t watch City against a top Palace team for £20 because Real Madrid tickets cost a lot more.

I go to watch City first and foremost. The opposition is very much a secondary concern.

Why would you go off what the club are charging?
I used to go to away games with no tickets and hope to scab one whilst there, so finding a site on the internet, with tickets put up for City fans by City fans that can’t make it, with tickets at face value or less and you just need a membership number would have been a Godsend.
Funnily enough, it’s inundated when we play Madrid, just not so much for Palace. Go figure…..

I’m not saying I do, but most of the public/ city fans pay for their tickets from the club. Thats pretty standard, as most are available through the club. Tickets used to be affordable, so this was never an as much of an issue.

Why should have to go to some dodgy website or ticket exchange site to be able to go to a football match?

I think you’re missing the point. You go to to every home game for years - gillingham, united semi final, the Aguero game, but then your gradually priced out and your finding it impossible to afford tickets for league matches or the matches that often mean everything - the derby for example.

You then get into the habit of not going to games. You’re then given a choice - it’s Salford in the cup or nothing. Why should we then expect that fan to come crawling back - when the club couldn’t care less.

I agree and disagree. Of course it’s great to watch city in any game, but then we’ve had some of the biggest games in the clubs history. Truly special moments and games that will always be remembered - Real Madrid semi final for example. You’re telling people you can go to Salford in the cup, but you can’t go to those big games. Just accept it. The club then charge ridiculous prices and fill the ground with non city fans.

If tickets were more affordable in general I don’t think this would be an issue. The match day prices are ridiculous

Salford was a big game to me as that's where my family are from. In addition, there’s loads of big games fans have been able to get tickets for £30 including Forest, Palace, Wolves and Leicester. It’s much more difficult to get cheaper tickets for a family group but I’ve given away 5 together for tomorrow.

I regularly mention the face value pages (and yes recent attacks by the ticket compliance manager has affected things) but the cheap tickets are often still available. It’s a bit weird when I sometimes mention cheaper tickets because there seems to be a queue of people saying you can’t expect legacy fans to buy off these pages. The Blues making these comments are usually season card holders who don’t need to worry about excessive prices. I agree the Club should be making cheaper tickets available more often.

It’s more than price though. The relative silencing of the face value pages in recent times has diminished the number of fans encouraging a Wembley end sell out, to Blues. (That said, there was a poster just doing that today on the main FV page). Negative voices become dominant.

I’ve filled in my latest 1894 survey and I plan to join then next protest (like last time). I don’t like the way our fans reps have been treated or 1894 in relation to the new North Stand. I think City have brought the dispute on themselves through greed, including the Madrid and Inter Milan ticket prices.

I often post if there is someone I know looking for a cheap ticket. I’m more careful who I help now in case the ticket compliance manager is lurking. That said. I had to tell a mate who was offering me 2 tickets for Villa to give away to get a refund as I was struggling to give his tickets away. Villa, a top club who’ve always let us know they’ve been champs of Europe!

Tickets have been expensive for decades if you don’t have season cards.

It’s a complete shit show , turned blues against blues, all in the pursuit of money . We should have known what was coming after the Istanbul fiasco . The hierarchy at the club gave “legacy “ fans two fingers then and will continue to do so .
I agree about Istanbul, but the pursuit of money by steadily increasing ticket prices has been going on for a lot longer.

Interesting article on the Brentford attitude to pricing. It can be done, if you care.

Excellent snippet from that article regarding PSR. An excuse for rises that is used by some of our own supporters.

“We know that some clubs are blaming PSR,” Watts says. “We know too that, in a world of PSR, that all revenue is important. But let’s face it: across most Premier League clubs, matchday revenue is around 15 per cent of the whole.

“Whilst that is important, we have 85 percent of revenue coming from elsewhere and we prefer to focus there. We have a player trading element to our history and present. We have television revenue and we try to make the Gtech a great experience for broadcasters to operate from.

“You can just stick an extra five pounds on the price of every match ticket if you want. Or you can say ‘We’re going to do the right thing and try to create a better proposition for supporters’. Our model stems from that.”
