Prioritise Barcelona or Chelsea?

We can win both games.

Against chelse:

Richards-Demichelis-Lescot-Clichy

-------------Rodwell-Garcia---------------

Lopes----------Jovetic/Silva----------------Milner
------------------Dzeko-----------------------

Against Barcelona our usuall 11, because the CL is more important.

That side wouldn't come close to beating a strong Chelsea side.

I don't think we will sacrifice either. Probably a similar lineup against Chelsea to the one in the league (Milner and Garcia should be fit which will help for midfield) and then Fernandinho, Nasri and Aguero hopefully back for some action against Barca.

Pellegrini has to manage both the physical and mental fitness of the players. If we were to "throw" either game it would be a huge psychological blow which would have detrimental effect on the following games. None of the players would want to go into the Barca game after a 2nd defeat by Chelsea and we would become a laughing stock if we played a weak team against Barca. He can do some juggling about eg Kolorov, Dezeko and Milner in one game, Clichy, Jovetic and Navas, in the next, but essentially he has to put out as strong a team as possible.

Not really.

If we lose both games, it won't be the end of the world. Any psychologial blow will be a temporary as the players will have the capital one cup final to look forward to and the last 16 second leg at the Nou Camp.

There's no alternative.

And yes, we can win. There's enough quality in that team.

It's not a weak side against certain teams, but it is compared to what Chelsea will field. It's the side you'd put out if you had no real intention of progressing in the cup.

We should prioritise the next 3 league games over all others imho, and take maximum points, however we need to take each game as it comes, and see what is available, playing the strongest possible team in all the games.

We have 2 winnable league games, and we need to take 6 points. We then follow up with 2 cup games, one of them is important to our league campaign too, because beating Chelsea in the FA Cup will tell them we're still in business.

The Barcelona home game comes at a difficult time, and I would aim to keep that as tight as possible, it would be great to have a lead, but a draw is no disaster, as the second leg is over a month away, and we have a good chance over there, even if its level.

Then another winnable league game where we must take 3 points again. assuming we don't draw with Chelsea (the worst result of the three imho) we then have a week off, before a cup final, which its important we can put out our best side possible.

So for me the league should remain the priority, and that includes beating Chelsea in the FA Cup because its a marker for the league.

We dreamt of times like this only 5 years ago, so lets grasp them, and enjoy them as much as possible, and we have no idea what injuries will beset our rivals.
