never had to do any myself but been in to visit mates in lindholm(doncaster), risley, strangeways, armley. not great places obviously but it helps if you know someone in there. does he have any rogue mates that are in at the minute?
some are cushy as fuck like kirkham, people walk out of there and go on the piss then go back ffs.

Prisons in UK is like 5 star hotel compared too prisons in Russia ,Lithuania and all other ex Soviet countries.

4 years ago my son (now 23) got 9 months...

he was a typical lazy teenager, thought the world owed him something (and to be fair, it probably did considering what his mother put him through, in the years after we split)..

having said all that he was a good lad when he wanted to be, but was very short tempered and aggressive.. thats what caused him to be jailed. he would rather bang somebody out than discuss the issue...

He could look after himself and I had no worries about him being bullied inside..

Whilst he was inside his nana died; and he had to be escorted to the funeral in prison gear...
He was in Lancaster, Northallerton, Forest bank & Stoke 'something'

He said the fact that he missed his nana's last few days and didn't really attend the funeral, made him realise what an idiot he'd been and he vowed never to go back.... he hasn't.

So, if he keeps his head down and isn't likely to intimidated, he'll be ok.

How on earth,(unless you have been in custody in both Britain and the former Soviet Union),do you come to that conclusion?
Having done prison visits as both a social worker and probation officer in the past,contrary to popular opinion UK prisons are overcrowded,violent places where corruption,bullying and drug supply are rife.
And that is just the prison officers.
Forest Bank is awash with heroin - a problem the governor seems unable to admit,as it questions his ability to run the place properly,so we end up with 20 blokes on a wing using the same dirty "works" to inject,as they won't give out clean hypo's,so people end up catching Hep c or HIV from those already positive.
Self-harm is commonplace,with an estimated 6 suicide attempts per week.
Having visited most prisons in the North West,I would have to say that Forest Gump,as it is laughingly referred to,is one of the worst.
And Styal is worse still.

Have you ever been sent to prison or known someone who has or even visited people in prison?

I've just had a nephew who's been given 18 months and was wondering what it's gonna be like for him.

First time I went there it was horrible, I was being looked at like I was a piece of meat, it got real un-nerving.
I have been lucky enough not to go to Forest Dump, but from what ive heard its like an extension of a bad Salford council estate in the 80's.

ive been 2 prison, a couple of times, (not someting i like 2 brag about). but was 4 years ago. spent time in lancaster farms (yoi) and in forest bank. y.o.i prisons are alot worse then adult prisons, a few of my friends are in forest bank at the moment n they say its still the same, witch is ok. lots ov privilages. he will be ok, if he keeps his head down, and stays away from drugs. if i was him, i would put a application in 2 go 2 a open prison, in that way he would defo get his tag. in witch case should be out in less then 5 month
