Private number plates

I agree. If it's a tasteful one, then when you have a car that doesn't change body style every couple of months, a private plate disguises the true age of the car to all but the most knowledgeable. Mine is one of the old style 'P' reg plates with my initials on the end and whilst it's obvious that it's not a 17 year old car, it could be anything from 7 years to 6 weeks old as the current model shape was first released in 2006.

personalised reg / tasteful - oxymoron. And if you think a private plate hides the true age of a car to all but your average car mechanic then you're clearly as deluded as everyone else driving round with the ultimate "Look at me. Prize twat" symbol.

Why the fuck would you think anybody has the slightest interest in knowing your name as you drive past in your 2003/4/5/6/7//8 - please tell us we can't guess what year titmobile?

Go. And. Read. A Book. Broaden. Your. Horizons.

I can think of about 5 people I know with personalised plates.

4 of them are twats.

And the other's a CUN7

You really are an angry, jealous little man aren't you?

You might not be seen as such a cock if you accepted that other people are allowed their own opinions and have their own reasons for doing you things you might not agree with.

Or you might just be a twat?

Some funny ones on here.........................

I've got one which is just the initials of my family (with my S as a 5) - £250 from DVLA

Simply hides the age of the car - have had it for over 10 years and its been on 4 cars

Private plates can be a bit of a ball-ache if you decide to sell you car a bit quick... ahem.

looks like this one has gone to the right owner

Why buy an expensive personalised plate? It's not clever and its a waste of money. Just paint your name on the door if your that worried about people knowing whose car it is

very sound advice! whilst we are at it give the £5,000 or whatever you were about to waste to a cancer charity or other worthy cause instead of trying to make yourself look/feel better than the rest of us (losers) D1CK5

£400 and it will never depreciate

I can't believe how many jealous people are on here. "They should give it to charity" ffs! grow fucking up your type are the ones that will moan about anything and expect everything but will do fuck all about it. So what if people have private plates wtf has it got to do with any of you? fuck all!
Whats more interesting is that if they have £5000 to spend on a plate, or a House abroad or a flash car or a nice watch is that there is fuck all you can do in your P reg ford Fiesta, Holidays to Blackpool, with your casio watch ha ha, get a proper job you sponges, and take your negativity away from this forum.

lol The thread was a bit tongue in cheek and as i stated in the op i dont mind one bit private number plates....

Its the ones who add dots, twist the numbers and letters to try make something that still doesnt look personal lol

A few on here could do with this number plate lol

I like the C17 Y summat ones. The rest are wannabe aristos!

My City plate is pretty awesome if I do say so. Actually had supporters go down on their knees and do the we are not worthy bit in front of my car, while back: Wigan play-off semi and Blackburn promotion.

Mine's a C17 Y... summat
I like it not only because it City related but it hides the age of the car

Don't need 7's in my number :)

I've C17Y FC on a Merc near the ground; that's pretty cool.

Agree about hiding the age of the car. My wife has a very random private plate, that she inherited, on her car.

what a crazy post, jealous my arse, I could buy 10 private plates if I wanted, has it occurred to you that some of us dont want to show off and be 'noticed' ?
I would want someone to pay ME 5 grand to drive around with a number plate with my name on it, the whole concept of it is immature, narcissistic and just plain shit.

Have to agree with this.
Obviously folk can spend their hard-earned as they wish, but private car plates just scream crass, naff and vulgar to me.
I too have the money for such ostentatiousness, but would rather spend it on a fifth of a horse that couldn't win a walkover.

Dont have a problem with private number plates,if they actually say what they read ie. KEV 1 or BM 1

But when you have to squint turn your head 45 degrees and stand on one leg to actually read what they say then i think you should give up on the pretence that you have a private number plate

For example i spotted one the other day M118RK N .... I think it was supposed to say Mark N

Thoughts ?

Either that or he wears a mirkin!

There you go!

the ultimate in 'look at me' 'look how important i am' 'look how successful i am' only a twat has a personal number plate

Not true at all. My sister gave me some plates for x-mas years ago, they're on the wifes car now (only because I need truck plates for mine). Doesn't make her a twat and says fuck all about how succesfull she is. $250.00 cdn is what they cost to buy here.

At 1.70CDN to the pound right now £147 seems very reasonable - I paid the flat DVLA £250 fee for mine over 10 years ago which included the £85 reg fee and vat too - since I seem to often splurge hundreds of notes on stuff my wife can only shake her head at in despair, I think that's reasonable too...
