Prize Money (Premier League)

was thinking about the last 6 years about the prize money city have won and the total must be really good over united in the premier league alone but am shocked to see united last season picked up more money than manchester city ???? that can not be right

They had more matches, but that list isn't correct as it has them earning 70k more in merit payment, which is based on league position, while the notes at the bottom confirm City received the highest merit payment.

Prize money (merit payment) difference is under 2M a place, as that table shows.
Payment for appearing on TV (Facility fee) is 1.2M a match.

2 more matches outdoes 1 place. It's all in the table.

It doesn't say that - you've misread the figures.

City 38.4M
Utd 36.6M

Ah, thought they were both 6s, the resolution on that table is shite.
Ah well, not much we can do while sky and bt have their love in and facility fees aren't paid for overseas games.

In the past 5 seasons we've picked up £588.24m from the Premier Leauge and €279.13m from UEFA.

A grand total of £835.6m using todays exchange rate.

Not bad really.

Spurs, Liverpool or United going out of the Chamions League would be great for us financially too, as we'd get a much bigger slice of the market pool money - one of the reasons Juventus have pulled in the most money of any club in the last few years because they're the only Italians going deep.

UEFA could be better, we really need to start making semi finals every year at a minimum, will have a huge effect on the commercial side as well.

Nothing much apart from be the team to watch. It's all advertising-driven, and they draw more viewers.

The biggest difference to our UEFA money would be other PL teams getting knocked out early.
