Profitable Transfers

A few more here for you, Gav.
Only small profits though

Niall Quinn - 800k - 1.3m
Spencer Prior - 500k - 700k
Mark Kennedy - 1m - 2m
The Goat - 400k - 500k
Vederan Corluka - 8m - 8.5m
Antoine Sibierski - 700k - 2m

Will have to check them GX Blue. I would be surprised/amazed at a profit on Sibierski and Prior. Corluka we could arguably have done mush better on, but I would have expected a profit. I always though we spent 7 million on him?

I wouldnt doubt for a second you wouldnt check them, ermmm, 'Frank'....
Yes Newcastle bought Sibs on deadline day late on for 2m.
Corluka wanted to leave though didnt he. We had no choice. He left and half an hour later we'd been bought by Sheikh Mansour.

No, he was almost in tears in his last game, from what I remember. Basically, Frank Sinatra had bought a load of players which he obviously didn't have the money for (fit and proper persons test, my arse) and we were dangerously close to going under before the Sheik came in. Hughes was close to quitting too. I think Corluka was sold simply to pay what we owed on buying him in the first place.

On second viewing, it might've been the rain.

But he definitely didn't want to leave, from what I remember at the time.

Actually, now I reread it, he handed in a transfer request. But the whole club was in the shit at that time, so perhaps it was down to that. Never mind. We got Zabaleta out of it.

Tottenham have completed the signing of the Manchester City defender Vedran Corluka for £8.5m. The 22-year-old joins Croatia team-mate Luka Modric at White Hart Lane, and leaves City after making 41 appearances since arriving in August 2007. He has signed a six-year deal at White Hart Lane.

"I am delighted to be here because I am coming to a big club with great players, great ambition and also my best friend [Luka Modric] is here so it is a very happy day for me," Corluka said.

Corluka had handed in a transfer request at City following previous interest from Spurs. His move south move follows City's signing from Espanyol of the Argentinian defender Pablo Zabaleta, who agreed a five-year deal with Mark Hughes' side yesterday.

Just had a quick look and it suggests he only signed for Newcastle on a one year deal, states undisclosed, so would be surprised if they paid 2 million for him knowing he could leave in a year. One of my favourites Charlie at the time so sad to see him leave but what a replacement with Zabba.

If this is supposed to be a rolling joke then I get the feeling that there's only you in on it.
Judging from your understanding of the original post, and your reply on page 1, I wouldn't expect you to get it. Read them again, and if you still don't get it, come back to me. I'll draw you a picture. :-D
