How do you know what it's like?
Have you actually been there?
The initial point of the op was that the America media paints a bad picture of places it doesn't like to create a negative opinion, which is clearly true.
But don't let that fact get in the way of your predictable pro-USA, anti-communist rants.

The T.V told him mate. Seems legit.

USA/Israel good - Muslims/communists bad.
Let's keep it simple for the hard-of-thinking.

Too complicated for me that!

Good guys = good.

A tory once tried to convince me that the UK was really a workers Utopia, with more jobs than workers and the benefit system was paved with gold with free drugs and alcohol to go with the X-boxes and 50 inch plasmas. He gave every indication that he believed it.
Propaganda works best on those who are desperate to believe it.

There were no pretty girls behind the Iron Curtain until the post Glasnost era began.

The irony

Just look at the difference between how an event like the Boston bombings is covered by BBC, Sky, Al Jazeera and Russia Today plus the yanky half hour news shown on BBC late on. Same event 5 different views.

The yank lad's perspective on news since he left the US of A for Dubai is bloody interesting.

North Korea's no utopia by any stretch of the imagination, but the US backs a lot of oppressive, bloody, racist, tyrannical regimes, and dictators, its only the ones they don't like, you hear about in a negative media light.
