Protest v Wolves

I had two young lads sat next to me at a recent game and they were from Worcester. One was a Liverpool fan.

They wanted to see top footballers they said as they were both amateur players.

I asked how did they get tickets and they both said they were matchday members and had paid the £35 and got the under 21 discount on their tickets. Then they said there was a "waiting list" for tickets for matches that they had gone on.
Is this a thing?

I think I turned them into blues by the end of the game though. I had the Liverpool fan saying stuff like "scousers are cunts "

There shouldn’t be a ten game rule as long as the seat is filled.

The ridiculous thing is if it's a concession ticket then for every game the season ticket holder doesn't attend and puts on the ticket exchange, the club makes a £40+ profit if it sells. By forcing them to attend they lose out. Which proves they know a lot of people will have difficulties meeting this criteria and it's only been introduced to get rid of season ticket holders.

I see city matters have made a statement useless as usual.
The statement bears no resemblance to the reaction on supporters. Absolutely tone deaf.

We have a club out of touch with its supporter group and a supporter group out of touch with the fan base.

don’t let the door slam you on the arse on the way out, lads.

I take it all protests are being called off based on the statement on the clubs website?

Cant knock the club on this one, all very fair.
There is still a £150 charge to have Flexi Gold, Season Tickets are too expensive (one freeze this season doesn’t diminish that fact, they’ve been spiralling in cost for too long and have priced too many out for many years), we don’t have enough of the cheaper end STs, child STs are too expensive, there are still no new STs, lapsed STs don’t get put out as STs for others to buy, matchday tickets are far too expensive (especially for children!), there are still no club ticketing initiatives for local people (like Liverpool have), there is still no staged criteria for home games so people who have latched onto City in the last five years can get tickets as easily as someone who’s been a fan for fifty years with thousands of Loyalty Points but can no longer afford a ST, too many of our tickets are going on the ticket tout sites, too many non-City fans are getting tickets for home and away games, too many away fans are in the home stands, and just making the new NSL2 a mixture of everything is very disappointing.

Student railcard. I never missed a home game in 9 years of studying but I stayed local.

I am concerned about your last point. They say they will release new seasoncards but the capacity is going up to 62k so why haven't they made an announcement on numbers? That suggests that it will be a trivial number. That's exactly what Liverpool did. They released 1,000 season tickets. That is what I think we should be wary of
I'm in same situation as Ric. Lad is hopefully going Northumbria - £80return on train,, railcard makes it £60 ish.
Had a season ticket since he was 5 but now expected to come to games like Bournemouth at 19.00 on a Sunday night?

Same as Ric, my lad goes to uni next year.

Considering his preferred choices are St Andrews, Edinburgh and Durham, he will be lucky to get back for more than seven or eight.

I'll be paying out at the higher rate as well when he turns 18, so they will get us there also.

I have his season card on my phone, so his younger sister or their grandad will just come along, but I can see neither of them wanting to come to games which are Sunday nights or midweeks.

I might struggle for takers :(

Ask your mum to download your season ticket to her phone ahead of next season then delete it and add it back to your phone on your return. That way the ticket gets used and you’ll hit the 10 game criteria.

I have my son's and dad's season cards in my wallet on my phone.

You don't have to mess with all that. It still automatically updates even if on other phones.

I keep them just in case they forget their phones or another problem.

As long as it only gets used once at the turnstile, it doesn't matter which device it is on.

Done that for a few years. Means if they can't make it, I can scan in anyone else who comes with me.

Ah fair enough. I thought you could only have a ST on one device at a time.

Really My lad is off to university in September, and obviously doesn’t want to give up his ticket. Whether or not he’ll be able to make it back ten times a season on a student budget remains to be seen. This stinks from the club. They’re deliberately trying to oust out more and more season ticket holders.
Ric I'm torn on this as I think far too many people have season tickets who don't bother going and just use them for the big games and this needs to stop and these tickets should be passed on to fans who want a ST and will go regularly.

That said I think in situations where your son is a ST holder going off to uni for 3 years he shouldn't be penalised for this. A system where your son can show he's at uni and get dispensation for 3 or 4 years should be put in place, it wouldn't be too difficult to manage.

The issue I have with the club is the lack of new season tickets and even the reduction of them this needs to stop, along with making sure those fans who have them are using them.

Three great universities, if he is in to Golf go to St. Andrews the students get special rates.

Because we have a lot of no-shows and I want to see the ground full. City have seasoncard and match day fans. My brother followed City home and away in the bad times. Then he had a family and gave up his seasoncard. At the start of the season I used to go through and try and buy as many games as I can for him but it difficultt to organise because by the time he knows his shifts, the games are listed as sold out. And then when the game comes there are a thousand no shows. It's too late then. Season ticket availability is what matters most to me.

Punish the no shows then which is why they say the 14 game utilisation has worked this season and are now increasing it to 16.

I don’t think anyone has an issue with that.

But saying you have to personally attend 10 is a step too far.

If you’re happy with that then that’s fine but I hope life doesn’t come at you fast one season and you’re then forced to pay £71 for a match ticket to see the club you love because your season card has been taken off you for dealing with life for one season.

If the seat is filled by yourself, a friend/family member or by someone buying it after you’ve put it on the ticket exchange then seriously what is the issue?

We know what the issue is, the issue is they know that there is a % of season ticket holders each year who make 9 games or less and they can convert them to match tickets meaning the overall season ticket number goes down each season.

If it doesn’t effect you now it may effect you or someone you know in the future.

Football clubs know they have to introduce things slowly over years because each thing they introduce gets a little moan but overall football fans just accept it quietly.

Don’t be surprised in a decade that they will introduce a minimum spend per match day.

Your first point, the 16 game attend or relist policy solves that problem (minus the three games that could still be a no show)

Those that do hoard the SC and don't attend, once it's taken off them, it won't be given to someone more deserving so whilst I agree with your sentiment, it won't happen

Spot on regarding son at Uni, lad goes into the Army, mother has a child etc. That would help, like the covid pause did for that extra year

Same here - have both my kids on my phone.
If he can't come and I can't get someone to come/take it, I will just scan it as though he was there so it registers. Fuck them.
