Protesters

Albania, Bhutan, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, Iceland, Norway, Paraguay, Tajikistan, Uruguay are all considered 100% renewable energy countries.
Just taking Iceland from there, they use their geology for a lot of their heating which isn’t possible in other nations.

I don’t know about the rest.

Do you think it’s entirely feasible across the world and in what timeframe?

Iceland is about 20% geothermal, but 75% Hydro which any country with rivers can do.

Most countries are getting there, I think we have a warped perception of how possible it is because the UK is so far behind - 61st in the world.

Just seen your previous post on Labour.

Is there policy to redirect funding from fossils to renewables or is it additional?

She's not barking at the moon even though she looks like the Pears soap has been unopened in her house since it was bought.

She didn't inconvenience anyone or put someones life in danger and she is making a point, I don't fully understand what that point is but that's the point, you have got to get the point over to those who don't know or those who wilfully don't care.

I'm sort of with her but again she's be taken more seriously if she looked serious that's just the way you get people to take notice of you.

Don‘t shoot the messenger…

But, yeah, to reach a widespread of demographics you need to tailor the messenger for the audience. It’s like advertising and brands, a younger audience will respond more positively to a brand that has people advertising it that they can relate to. Same with an older audience

Protest groups should spend an afternoon seminar on advertising reach.

They need to do something because at the moment they’re just pissing people off

They got their protest to reach the news in every country in the world, dominate social media and did it without damaging anything or picking up serious criminal offences...I don't think they need help on advertising and outreach.

They have loads of people of all demographics - they look like a mixture of students and retired geography teachers - so if the media is putting the spotlight on the well spoken middle class girl with pink hair it's for a reason.

Money will be the main factor. They are likely an ad hoc group with no finances, or access to media, so their only option is stunts like this.

Fossil fuel interest groups have the money, media access and political clout. These groups, not so much.

Yes, but what is the impact of the protest on the public? I don’t actually know, but this forum will give a flavour and a fair few are not inclined to listen to a message from a young woman with pink hair.

The media may want to focus on her, but the group itself can nominate a media spokesperson and a retired geography teacher may be a better idea, or at least share the media duties. I have no idea how they are organised or structured or even if these is a media team, but any corporation or brand will tell you that you need one.

There is no point in grabbing the attention and then failing to deliver the message, or worst still, alienate potential supporters.

…and as luck would have it, today, I‘ve been impacted business wise by the Dartford Bridge protest.

Karma, is a woman :)
