Protests outside a Batley School

Unbelievably stupid and deliberately provocative. It's really hard to have much sympathy when people do this and then shit happens, regardless of the rights and wrongs it's exactly what you know will happen (and I suspect the reaction is why they do it in the first place).

If I go into a pub and tell the biggest guy there his wife is a fat slag, I wouldn't expect much sympathy if he kicked the shit out of me. If he was a guy known for kicking the shit out of people who insult his wife, I'd be inclined to suggest I got exactly what I was after
But that guy would then be arrested for kicking the shit out of you, I guess you would have a point if it was illegal to show an image of Muhammad but the fact there is a page full of these depictions on wiki without their offices being surrounded and calls to sack everybody that works within etc blah blah blah.

anyways, all religion is a massive pile of bollocks and situations like this hardly show it in the best light.

I firmly believe Religious Education shouldn't be taught in schools. It's a complete waste of valuable time that could be used to teach something more useful.

Actually, I take that back. Kids should get one lesson about religion. They should be taught that there's lots of them and all the need to do is respect anyone else's beliefs. Done & dusted in 10 minutes.

Did he give students at the beginning the opportunity to not be in the lesson? If he did, then he should be fully supported. If he didn’t, then I’m less sympathetic.

Blasphemy laws and religion zeolotism have no place in modern Britain. We kicked it out for the most part 300 years ago. It should never return. I genuinely fear for my daughter when she is older.

I don’t think the issue is about blasphemy as such, it’s about whether those that could potentially be offended by it were given the option to opt out of the session.

Nothing wrong with showing it as such, just being mindful of giving people potentially the choice of consuming it or not.

And he’d still be arrested as he broke the law and shouldn’t be out on the streets if he can’t control his temper. And that is true whether you were a bellend or not.

Clearly if you are "unbelievably stupid and provocative" by showing a picture of someone and I don't like it, you deserve what you get.

In fact, I'd go further and say you deserve beheading like that Samuel Paty. As for a magazine like Charlie Hebdo, got what they deserved if you ask me and I'm as liberal and in favour of free speech as they come.
I’ve liked this post but only because it’s satire. If it isn’t satire then let me know. One can never be too sure on here.
