Out of interest why does he hate PSG? I mean them being French is reason enough but is there a major reason for it?

They took the piss out of his meditation celebration iirc. I doubt Haaland gives a shit about that though, he seems the sort of person to laugh that sort of thing off and just focus on the game.

I do feel like he's got a renewed energy after his contract though, so agree with Domalino overall - expecting a performance from him tonight. And we'll tell if he's bothered if he pulls out the meditation celebration again!

No idea who tonight will go as I’ve seen very little of PSG. Our attack has been very good the last few matches. The defence improves hugely with Dias fit, hopefully he can stay fit. Still not happy with our midfield options, we need more legs in there. Gundogan and Kovacic were great on the ball against Ipswich not so good without it.

Would be great to get a win tonight which would set us up nicely for a difficult run of fixtures.

No but a win tonight will.
A loss tonight and a win against Brugge may not be enough
Zagreb and PSG could get 14 and 13 points respectively.
A win tonight only see's us through if Zagreb also lose.

A loss tonight and win against Brugge will be enough regardless of what zagreb do. We would be guaranteed to overtake Brugge with a win. PSG play Stuttgart last game, we would be above at least one of them too as neither can gain maximum remaining points and a draw would put us level on points with stuttgart but we have a superior goal difference. So we would have to lose by 7 tonight and only win by 1 against Brugge or any other permutation of that g/d swing to not be guaranteed to finish above at least 1 of those.

And this is why I’m not that fussed by tonight’s game. We are most likely going to beat Brugge and qualify regardless of the result tonight.

The new format is pretty crap tbh

Don’t like it that much myself but definitely do think its a bit more entertaining than the groups stages which had become stale for me

It's just a way of giving the better teams more escape routes for fucking up. Let's be honest, both us and Real Madrid deserve to be eliminated from the competition and if this were last seasons rules we likely would both be out.

The two favorites to win the entire thing at the start of the competition out in the groups would seriously shake up the competition. Instead, there's a strong chance both teams progress with nothing but a trickier tie earlier in the knockouts to contend with. Would anybody be surprised if Real Madrid end up winning the whole thing again?

This season was always going to be more entertaining as sides aren't sure how it's going to pan out. But next season or the year after when there's stats to show roughly how many points is needed to reach the top 8 or the top 24. Teams will eventually work out what points haul is safe and once they've reached those goals. The second string play.

This may not happen as quickly as there is a gamble element to it that many wont be keen on being the first team to take it but I am certain that eventually somebody will realise that for the bigger sides. Playing a second string in the entire league phase and taking a play off spot over a top 8 finish will actually be more beneficial to the overall squad health. If you're resting your better players for 8 games during busy periods and then using them for the extra 2 games in the play offs. The net result is fresher players. In a world with increasing number of games, somebody will take this approach eventually and then they'll all copy it.
