Amazing how a goal totally changes people's perception of how everyone played. Could have been 2 or 3 down early one, and at 2-1 they could have easily had a couple. We couldn't string 2 or 3 passes together and we were getting over run everywhere.

They totally dominated the midfield with Matuidi, Rabiot, Motta and Ibra dropping in against our 2, finding pockets all over the place. Was a hard watch for the most part.
You say that but their second shouldn't have stood and the one that hit the angle was a foul on Sagna(face mash before he headed it) that leaves only one chance Ibra should have scored but blasted over(plus the penalty could easily have not been given and a red for Luiz we weren't that lucky at all). They didn't dominate midfield at all for me you were just too busy biting your fingers, when they had the ball we looked nervous yes... but it was the exact same thing when we had the ball because we looked very confident in possession away from home at times tonight so it's a greater significance to us on the midfield battle IMO(something to build on).

They were sloppy at times and so were we... I wouldn't want us to be overconfident about the performance but at the same time there's plenty to see there(when we played it quick they couldn't keep up)to believe that we can totally do the job in the second leg if we tighten things up and come with the right gameplan to exploit the weaknesses we saw tonight in PSG(you have to have noticed weaknesses in them tonight... more than I expected personally).

Worst thing we can do at home is put Yaya in a midfield two and go all guns blazing. Two ferns and counter please.

No it's just you have a more negative judgement. We're away from home, they had a lot more possession as expected.
But we refrained from diving in, tried to stay tight and limit their opportunities. Which i think we did quite well, overall.
So for all their dominance they didn't create a host of chances. FFS everyone has moaned for ages that we've been too naiive
in this competition and when we show a bit more maturity, it's still not fucking good enough. Just be happy with result.

Large portions ? Think the only time we seemed on the rack was 5 mins leading up to their 2nd and 5 mins after.
You could also say we could have been 2 up if Silva could head the ball. It's all ifs, buts and aunties bollox.
We weren't brilliant, we weren't awful and apart from the disaster of a first goal i never felt that PSG caused us that many problems.
We managed that of our own accord, a couple of times.
I think it was a little bit longer than a 10 minute spell. If that was comfy viewing for you, you've got bigger bollocks than me anyway haha.

a snippet of BBCs unbiased report............
This fixture was touted as a battle of Europe's richest clubs, with both sides backed by wealthy Middle-Eastern owners - PSG's from Qatar and Manchester City's from the United Arab Emirates.

While the teams have spent a reported £800m between them on players in the past five years, the game, which was entertaining, lacked the quality expected from such blue-chip line-ups.

I agree but I'm sure Pellegrini will be prioritising a competition he can win rather than qualifying for one he won't be in charge of. We should have enough for West Brom anyway but I can see de Bruyne and Aguero rested
First half of that post makes sense, hadn't thought of it that way however he has been very professional so far in terms of wanting to win everything he can so would hope he's not prioritising either really.

Disagree that we should have enough for WBA though, well, naturally we should in terms of whose on the pitch, but we've not won back to back matches since October - personally don't think we can take any match lightly, the number of times we've dismissed a team 4-0 then dropped points next match is incredible.

Watching the itv highlights, Roy Keane favours PSG to go through next week. Now there's a surprise the rag t***.

It's called age. Seen a fucking lot worse than that. Mind you, i'm sure you have ;-)
CSKA springs to mind.

I said borderline awful. Not quite awful, but worse than bad. Kept them fairly quiet and had chances is a political spin on a game where we could have been 2 down after 15 minutes had Ibrahimovic had have been awake - possibly could have even been a man down if the ref saw the Mangala - Matuidi challenge differently. On top of that, we spent large portions of the game hanging on only for them to run out of steam around the 75th minute. We finished quite well, but i still think our quality was very poor all night.

Clichy, Silva, Aguero, Navas, Otamendi were awful. Sagna gave a penalty away, Mangala probably could have been sent off, Fernando made one of the worst kind of errors you will see. Fernandinho and Hart were both poor for their second. Quality wise, we were terrible, nowhere near as good as we can be.

Have you heard of tactics? PSG had nothing left after 60 minutes and we started looking very dangerous well before the goal. I suspect we could have won it if we went for it in the final 15 but it's not worth the risk of conceding a goal in a two leg game.

Pel played a blinder

away leg job done well done Blues

leg is far far from being a gimme though

I expect a similar game at our place and as they still have goals in them and we can't defend for toffee we will need to assume that we will need goals again on Tues and set up accordingly imo

Already said i was chuffed with the result. My initial post wasn't negative anyway. I was happy that imo we were terrible yet got a great result. Quality wise, considering we looked all over the place at the back, and couldn't string two passes together going forward (aside from the final 15 and the odd spell here and there), i stand by that.

I just don't see how we 'limited their chances'. They hit the bar, missed a penalty, scored twice and missed an absolute sitter. People happy clap performances like that and then kick off when we play exactly the same yet get stuffed on a day where the luck isn't quite on our side.
