PSG SeasonThread 2012/13

Listening to talksport discussing PSG. Apparently they have stated they will spend 150million in each of the next 5 transfer windows !

How the hell does that work with F F P ?

Any how these are going to be the real competition for everyone in champs league in the very near future.......

They will be a very strong club for years to come.

The consortium who bought PSG (QIA) were very close to buying Everton at one stage until Kenwright pulled the plug at the last minute.

On paper they will look a strong team but all those top class players they have signed will never have to put the amount of effort in to win a game in Ligue 1 as you would in the Premier League, La Liga etc..

I can see alot of PSGs signings becoming accustomed to a weaker league.

To win the Champions League, you have to be facing tough opponents week in week out in your domestic league so that your players get put in tough situations and PSG wont get that in Ligue 1 in my opinion.

Take the Premier League for example - look at us versus Sunderland both legs last season or the Man UTD v Everton game last season or Man UTD Wigan when they were in for the title run in. That sort of 'drama' will not be seen regularly in Ligue 1. You need to face these sort of challenges to develop a team. If you are steam-rolling a league then there is no point in being in that league especially as Ligue 1 is not a great division compared to EPL, La Liga, Serie a - even Portuguese teams are doing better in European competitions!!

PSG will be one of the biggest clubs in the world in 10-15 years. Paris alone supports that statement. There is not a single French speaking club in the world represented at club level despite their national team successes. I do believe that a strong PSG will force the growth of other French teams as well.

In the same way some lads at the matches talk about how they supported city because they hated united... Many will support smaller French clubs because they hate PSG.

Incorrect.

See: Barca/Real

La Liga is light years ahead of Ligue 1 in terms of competition despite being dominated by 2 teams.

You could argue it is better than the PL in terms of quality (not entertainment) i.e Bilbao vs United and it was an all Spanish Europa final.

I watched PSG's first game a 2-2 home draw with Lorient. he standard was really good. Very exciting game

Scotland not comparable to France as Scotland has a population of 5 Million and I bet half is in the conurbations around Glasgow and Edinburgh.

French football can grow significantly. They have the support there, and they also have a huge pool of playing talent as a lot of the best West and North African players go there. At the moment they develop in French clubs then get picked off by the top European sides eg Drogba, Zidane. And of course Benarbia but we weren't then a top side and he was past his best

I think you don't know Ligue 1 at all.
Ligue 1 is obvioulsy not as good as PL or Ligua. We don't have so many stars or top players. But if you think Ligue 1 is an easy league, you are all wrong.

L1 is very défensive and tactic as the Serie A. Even small teams (like Lorient) have a really good organisation and are pretty good to play as a defensive block.

L1 is not attractive, not spectacular, not very technical, but for sure L1 is really not easy.

Plus every teams will play the game of their life against PSG this year.

Seriously we don't have to be ashamed of our league compre to the ilalian or german ones.

Every year we put at least 1 team in 1/4 or semi-final Champion's League, and when we lose against MU, Arsenal or any PL team we lose like 0-1 or 1-2. You beat a Ligue 1 team, but you don't crush a Ligue 1 team.
