Is that party boat still going?..Tuxedo something?
No idea mate, sorryAny idea what time it’s open tomorrow? Says 11am online but might it be earlier with it being a 12.30 kick off?
The Strawberry isn't rough, when I've been in it at least, NOT on a match day.I went in a pub just outside the Newcastle ground a few years ago where you had to pay a deposit for a pint glass, I suppose in case people nicked them / glassed people.
Rough as a bear's arse.
This was before a rugby match not the footy though.
Edit: just looked on google maps and it's called 'The Strawberry'.
Wouldn't fancy going in there again, it was like a scene from Life on Mars.
Bloody was when I went in but this was in about 2018, maybe it's been "done up"The Strawberry isn't rough, when I've been in it at least, NOT on a match day.
It has an upstairs and also an outside area.
Think it gets rammed on a match day though.
The "Irish Centre" is near the ground, cheap & cheerful...
Any pub in Newcastle is away fan friendly as long as you don't act a dickhead.
Try the "Grainger Market, only about 7 minutes from the railway station.Any recommendations for brekkie as I am on the earliest of early trains
I had a sausage and jalapeño roll in The Pig Sty in Grainger market yesterday. I shit you not, it was like someone had tried to wrap pastry around the stump of a giant redwood tree, it was that fucking big. Furthermore, it tasted sensationally good and cost just £3. They’d have had me for a tenner if it was London. Loads of other eateries in there as well…….Try the "Grainger Market, only about 7 minutes from the railway station.
A couple of places in there you can get a good, reasonably priced breakfast.
Ask for directions to ground from there - only about 10-15 minutes from there, but several exits so ask for help...
I was in the Rose & Crown (Newgate Street) before the game yesterday and there didn’t seem to be any issue about away fans being in there. No bother at all, although that’s probably due to the fact that everyone in there was between 50 and 70 years old!I know it’s too late now, but just for future reference. Pretty much every bar will let you in as an away fan.
This season we have opened up a fanzone outside of SJP called ‘Sela Stack’. This is home fans only though, it’s rather expensive in anyway though. Anyone watching the early build up on TNT today would have seen it where Ally McCoist went in it.
There are plenty of places for food in Newcastle, it’s a city centre, have an exploration. If any of you are staying over, Meat:Stack on the Bigg Market does great breakfast burgers, and burgers in general. They have proven so popular, they have branched out to Leeds, and Edinburgh in recent years.
If you are staying further out, Pablo Eggs goBar in Heaton, and in Whitley Bay do great Breakfast Boa buns.
The Black Garter, The Beehive, The Duke of Northumberland, and to a lesser extent The Rose & Crown are all fucking dives that should be avoided. I actually think these would be the only bars that actually don’t allow away fans in anyway, and trust me, it’s a blessing.
