Public sector pay since 2010

It would be good to see the salaries after qualification/12 months in the role to get an idea of actual living standards.

The starting salary for a teacher in 2018 is 22,917.
This will go up 3.5% for September.
More experienced teachers will get a smaller pay rise - 2% / 1.5% - which is a bit arse about face as there is no problem with getting people to become teachers, it's keeping them in the job for more than 5 years which is the problem.

Not the 11 grand rise on an MP though.

An Army Private's starting salary is around £15300, rising to around £19000 when qualified.

And these people are prepared to put their lives on the line for the defence of our country.

Great isn't it? Still the privatised railways, banks we saved, privatised prisons and so on are all run by millionaires that deserve the tax payers money more than a squaddie on a boiling hot hill in Afghan after all ................. those gifted people running the company that runs Birmingham prison aren't 10 a penny you know..........

The general voting public love to see a government being "strong" re public service expenditure.
Until they have to actually use said public services that is.
