Pubs for Palace

Popular route in seems to be the overground from London Bridge to Norwood Junction.. Also a few blues suggesting drinking around London Bridge, beerkeller called Katzenjammers looks like it may have a few calling in..

PMSL.

Badically the Shakespeare's shit. Much Ado About Nothing if you like. Just found out my favourite pub round there hasn't closed as I thought. It's a Sam Smiths pub, used to be The Cardinal, now called the Windsor Castle and it's in Francis St by Westminster RC Cathedral. Very nice inside.
And I've just remembered what's probably the best for beer, which i the Cask Pub and Kitchen in Pimlico, on the corner of Charlwood St and Tachbrook St. It's easy to miss as it's nestled under a block of council flats but there's a fabulous selection of beer and the food is good as well. About 10 mins walk from Victoria.

Col, do any of these pubs you've mentioned sell beer at less than 7 quid a pint mate?

As I've mentioned on the matchday thread, have previously been to pubs in Tulse Hill before and after games.

It lends itself to travelling on the Thameslink service from St Pancras (short walk from Euston) to Tulse Hill changing into the Southern service to Selhurst.

This one is a real ale sort of place...

And this one is right outside the station and sells decent beer as well as having big screens...

Both reasonably priced and away-fan friendly.

The Sam Smiths one (now the Windsor Castle) used to be reasonable but that was a good while ago.

Reminded me of the pub crawl you could do, starting off at the Two Chairmen, which is close to Westminster Abbey, and ending up, about 8 pubs later at the Cardinal by the RC cathedral. For obvious reasons it was known as the Ecumenical.

The Sam Smiths chain will be the place to look for value for money.. beer normally reasonable but food not always the best. I always pop into The Lyceum on the strand/Covent Garden when I nip down, bitter at under £3.. Would assume a similar price at other Sam Smith Establishments.. I also like Gertie Browns at East Finchley, similar prices, great for sport about 15 mins on tube from Euston.. The 3 o'clock kick off may well restrict the location, most probably grab an hours drinking somewhere close to a tube station.

Getting tube from euston to victoria, then train to thornton heath. Can i do this on the oyster card / contactless? if so will if be same price as a oyster day fare?
let me know if anyone know
Cheers

Anybody travelling back to Euston after the game from Norwood junction needs to check the train times as Southeastern trains are saying that they're going to be running the trains at "reduced speed" due to bad weather.

Down here now and hardly a cloud in the sky. Those restrictions if put in place don't start till 9pm so shouldn't impact any blues

Good point mate , I didn't notice it was from 21:00. But having relied on these shysters (Southeastern) for my commute into the city for the last 25 years I'd recommend people checked before using . My train from bexleyheath to Peckham rye was delayed , hence I'm only on the train to Thornton Heath atm when I should be in a pub having a pint haha .

We struggled to get in anywhere round Norwood junction, each one just said home fans only, try next one up the road, eventually got one although had sign home fans only outside it, first bloke saw sitting at bar had arsenal top on watching their game

People should of gone to the railway telegraph opposite Thornton Heath station. Palace, city and a few Arsenal fans were in there watching the rags game. Jerk chicken in the back aswell!

Unusual for Palace. We were ok for the Spoons pre-Slippy G and that dire defeat the other season. Then The Railway Telegraph was accommodating last season.

Spoons at Norwood junction now a restaurant wine bar type place, sent us to social club, it was home fans only as there had been trouble in it when west ham played, went to pub on corner, said on door it was full, asked a palace fan they said get train or walk to Thornton Heath, tired another one on down road n got in there

West Ham fans causing mither? As if... God are there some pieces of shit attached to that club.
