Pubs of yesteryear in the Manchester area

the snooty fox on the parkway was a place we used a lot going to the game as we came from Knutsford and later warrington, sad when it went.

When I had my stag do there were 26 pubs in Duky the idea was to have half in each pub didn't quite manage it but ended up in night club on Foundry St. was ill for 2 days afterwards.
Pubs that used to be going concerns now gone for a shitter
Black Knight
Listons
Dukinfield Arms
Park
Brunswick
Gardeners
Newmarket
Newboro
Lamb
Snipe
Friendship
Norman
and one in flats that changed its name that often couldn't remember what it finished as, if you had half in each of the survivors you'd go home sober.
sad sign of the times Government and Brewers have killed the Golden Goose.

Right going to quote my own post here, this pub was on Shudehill and was demolished in the 50s. I would love to be able to go back in time and walk into this pub. I love the old pubs like this.

Changed to the Mersey lights and the day it a closed a certain Dessie Noonan was going to have his wedding celebrations in their and he wasn't best pleased seeing it boarded up

The Black Horse on Oldham rd. Failsworth. Ran by close family friends, Gladys and Tom.

Here you go Barcon .... I still have this ...

We used to start our crawls in the Black Horse .... then up to The Bridge, bit of a wander, and finish in the Pack Horse when the other Tommy had it .... cracking pubs all of them.

Tom and Gladys were brought in to save my local, The Robin Hood, Droylsden Rd, Newton Heath. But the damage had been done after they put a cockney wanker of the first order in as manager, after they got greedy and destroyed all the trade former tenants Bob and Louise Lamb had built up over the years .... It's an office nowadays ....
