Pundits/co Commentators?

On Dutch television, there is a commentator in the stadium, no co-commentator, and everyone else is back in a studio in the Netherlands. In this respect, the BBC is one enormous junket and people should be livid about the extravagant waste of their licence fee money, yet it goes on unchallenged each year.
Agreed. And to a man they’ll all be banging on about Qatar’s cultural norms whilst at the same time enjoying the no doubt lavish hospitality of the hosts and trousering their absurdly high taxpayer funded salaries.

Fortunately the BBC won’t be forced on us in its current form for very much longer.

What we need is all ex players banned from commentating on future football games, they have all had there day.

I had hoped it would have changed with the Olympics in Japan when they were unable to travel en masse because of COVID and presented everything instead from Salford. It made no difference to the coverage whatsoever and should have been the benchmark for all future international events. However, rather than embrace that change, the BBC yet again sanctions a charabanc in the sun for its chums.

If someone were sat/stood next to you at the game and started wittering in your ear about what you can see perfectly well for yourself, you'd either move elsewhere or be on to the club first thing asking for a change of seat.

And yet millions of working class Brits across the country manage to not sound like infants like football pundits seem to.

It’s nowt to do with, sorry, wivv, social class… it’s to do with not developing language after being an infant through, sorry, ffrough, laziness.

There’s nothing wrong with colloquialisms and local accents, but not being able to say words without sounding like an infant is something I really dislike about too many people in this country, especially football pundits.
The worst for me is the cockneys who say ‘Burminam’ when trying to say Birmingham

This the same Dean Ashton who the other day didn't appear to understand the offside law. Thought some one was off because the defender (who played him on) was on the other side of the pitch
I probably think he’s ok because he is quite decent, fair and eloquent (and probably cos I don’t understand the offside law these days either). Thanks

I don't think I shall live long enough to get used to female commentary: it's just fucking shrill that it cuts through you like Quint's fingernails on the blackboard in that famous scene from 'Jaws.'
People say they are used to Gabby Logan's voice but that is because she's been around for a long time and we're accustomed to it. There'll come a time when we are all used to female commentaries, but as I say, I don't think I'll be around.

As for Jonathan Pearce, he more than any other commentator makes me immediately switch off and do something else. I would honestly rather not watch a game if he is commentating. The mute button is an option but I like to hear the crowd.
Pearce gets so over-excited I always feel he's going to have a heart attack. Screaming into the mic: "Oh my God! Absolutely extraordinary...it's a throw-in!" He gets so moist he's like a blind lesbian in a fish market.

Before the game, at half-time, and at the full-time whistle we have the same tired old pundits wheeled out for no good reason whatsoever in order to give us the benefit of their knowledge of the game. Shearer, Ian Wright, Camelgob, Ratboy...jobs for the boys, basically.
Or girls now

Of those I’ve heard I reckon McCoist, Ashton, Nevin and Nedum are good, the rest of the pundits are wank. I notice Clive the rag tyldesley has had a few pops at fake Ron tonight now he’s no longer a rag (fake Ron that is).
Ps I was referring to the Co commentator and radio pundits, some in the studio (like NDJ) are good

Why are they getting rid?
