Punk and New Wave thread.

Back in 1977 I was listening to very different music, but the punk scene in Dublin was different to that in Britain. I mean when the Boomtown Rats started they were considered punk and you can hear the political in Geldof in singles like, Looking after Number 1.
Some people even considered U2 in the punk or post punk category when they started, but nah! They weren’t.
There were a load of bands that you probably never heard of outside of Ireland like The Radiators from Space, The Vipers, The Blades, The Atrix.
There still is stuff on YouTube for some of their stuff.

A lot of the bands you mention were big in Scotland

I recall back then, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Cars and Cheap Trick were all labelled as New Wave by the UK press too ....
