Punk and New Wave thread.

Grew up in the prog rock to punk era, god were we messed up!
Saw the Clash at the Elizabethan hall in Belle Vue for a quid, Siouxsie and the Banshees were support with a little heard Manchester band playing their first gig, Magazine...for a quid!
Had my long hair pulled for being a hippie!
Saw the Stranglers at the Electric Circus, the pistols at the Lower free trade hall.
Went to the Stoneground to watch buzzcocks with a new band called Warsaw as support. Had a pee with Pete Shelley in the bigs.
Watched Joy Division several times and even got to interview Ian Curtis.
Forgotten loads more... but watched the Jam so many times, the best was at the Saddleworth music festival when I was queuing in my bike leathers (short hair now though) and weekend punks were trying to give me grief, until I gave them a hard stare.
Got a huge collection of LPs from the time, amazed at how much vinyl is selling for!

Was in a second hand shop on Tuesday and they were asking between 8-10 quid for albums that looked as though they had been through the tumble drier, mine are pristine.

More people claim to have been at THAT LFTH Pistols gig than at York away! You were really at that iconic one in 76? That's amazing. Remind me to touch the hem of your garment next time I'm out! Seriously we need to talk about more than football

Be careful I keep getting my foot stuck in the hem these days.
I was there and I was also at York away with my daughter.
The Pistols weren’t great but they did set others off who became great. I loved Joy Division live, saw them five times in Manchester in a period of just a few months.
Saw some magic gigs from the seventies through to the eighties, and would have said the Who were the best live band ever.
Until, that is, Nick Cave came along and he has done two of the best gigs I’ve ever seen.

I know this track isn't Punk, but Motorhead were mates with the Damned, and besides,, I like Motorhead so i'll add one track.
RIP Lemmy.

My mate from Manchester emailed me a couple of months ago and said, "go and see nick cave". with a promo code for pre ordering tickets.
I bought four and am going to see him at the end of Oct. for the first time.
